I always find this question amusing. It seems like everyone is a writer, but very few people make a living doing it.

Published only in small-scale science fiction magazines that pay about ten dollars per story, that is, but it still counts.

I write full-time, a lot of online articles; right now I've been doing mostly insurance/finance stuff, but have done sports, business, or you name it - in the past.

I dont have anything published yet but have many notebooks filled with poetry, short stories, just journaling to God...but i am writing a novel right now and illustrating a comic that goes with it. Still have alot more to go as it'll be a 3 part series, but am excited to keep going...

How do you best overcome the lack of motivation to write? I get so consumed by my daily life, and its on the back burner of my mind constantly, yet when i do have time to sit and write, thats the last thing i seem to want to do. Ehh just trusting that God will help me, but pretty sure its just a self-discipline lesson needing to be enforced.

I have that problem too. Some professional writers I have met just say to keep at it, set aside time each day to write even if you don't feel like it. I don't know, but it might work. I'm a bit of a procrastinator but I think the best way is to actively make time to write.

ya that seems to be the best idea...same way i reserve time with God disicpling oneself is never enjoyable but produces wonderful results.

As you can tell by my username, I love to write.

I'm currently writing a fantasy series and have two of the novels finished. They need more work though before I try and submit them to an agent.

How did you find an editor? Do you have a publisher too?

I actually just knew an editor, and she agreed to help me get my novel up to a level where I could submit it to a publisher. I haven't submitted to a publisher yet, but I have one in mind that publishes lot of first time Canadian authors

Me personally, I write poems (and Lyrics). Unfortunately, most of those poems are written when I am at the lowest of my lows and many are.. disturbing - for lack of better word.

I would love to get some of them published though. Just kinda like in chicken soup or something of that ilk. To let others that are going through similar things know they aren't alone. Because when your dealing with stuff like I did - knowing that is all that matters at the end of the day.

Not to sure where I could take them to get something like that going though....*goes of on random thought*
