  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are the voting machines secure?

This is a very serious issue and I have to wonder if anyone of y'all are concerned about the security and integrity of the computers and machines used in the voting process.
I certainly am concerned about these machines, they are connected to the internet and it was proven in court that it is possible to remotely change the votes. I see no point for them, the old and tried paper system is more reliable.

If my candidate doesn’t win, the system was fixed?

Paranoia is more enjoyable on drugs, (or so I have been told).

I agree even as someone who would have to have help casting her ballot as I cannot use pen and paper very well with my CP. There are people that most people could depend on to honestly help them cast their ballot.

If in fact those machines do change votes that is just not an honest or reliable system even if it was my party that "benefited from that'".

Is this why some Republicans try to push black, low income, and young people off the voter rolls...
Because counting all those big- city votes would be so hard?
Trump seems to be preparing his voters to get ready for Insurrection War II, knowing he is likely to lose a fair election.
I guess they're not doing so well in the purge the Democrats campaign either.
If I had to choose who was more honest--a Republican strategist or a voting machine-- I guess you can surmise which I'd choose.

We shell see who wins a (hopefully fair election I will say that I woud not be shocked if there were violence that happened either way. Of course I would hope not, but I would not be shocked.

Are you implying that you don't believe that the voting machines can be easily hacked? If so, then you are disagreeing with hacking experts.

Bro, this reminds me of an Onion video, where Florida has a voting machine with 600 levers and buttons. The Onion is a very popular satire news company founded in the great state of Wisconsin, but moved to NYC, NY and then Chicago, IL.

In all seriousness, voting machines have become more secure over the past few years, with advanced encryption technologies that I can not even begin to explain, but AP could explain better, and cybersecurity technicians can do the full rundown.

Quote from AP: "There was 'no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.' This was due to paper records being available for an estimated 93% of all ballots cast [in 2020] and a system of post-election checks to test the accuracy of the electronic tabulators."

Florida's Voting Machine (Duration = 3 min, Age rating = 12+ due to satire)

I am saying that the red state politicians "hacking" off tens of thousands of voter registrations (particularly in Georgia) is ten times more blatantly dishonest than any imaginary software problem.)

The fact it's even being talked about is to distract from voter suppressors cooking the voter roll books.

A'int working with me.

I do agree with you on that, but I do hope that the voters are notified months in advance (via mail or maybe have the info written on the bottom of their tax returns, cos hopefully everyone does their taxes) that their name has been purged off of the rolls.

I am not sure how it works as I have not missed an election year sense turning 18 and thus have not had to worry about it, but I think they send you something in the mail and then if you do not reply after a certain time they purge you off. This does not mean that you cannot re-register though we do not have same day registeration. For example to vote in Nov election you MUST be registered by October 7th else they will turn you away at the polls.

It is good that the government sends info in the mail. So yeah, seems that voter purging is not the worst. For instance, if someone passes away, one would hope his/her name is purged after a few years, so no one takes the name and casts a second vote.

Agreed. :) Plus, ideally a workplace should allow someone to take time off (a few hours) to register to vote, if the person works a lot. My state allows voters to register online.

They purge them verrrry selectively, focusing on all the Democratic voters in Atlanta.

Georgia has also removed all the county electors to replace them with election deniers---even in Atlanta.

Election deniers gave already proven themselves interested in putting candidate ahead of the Constitution or democracy--despite 60! lawsuit losses nationwide showing the election to be fair.

Election deniers should be prohibited from.becoming electors.

I believe GA does too. I know that some states ( if not all require employers give you time off to vote though that does come with restrictions which make it less common now. Those restrictions have to do with generally they ONLY have to pay you if you cannot get to the polls within two hours ( usually) on either side of working hours. However, with all but a VERY few states offering early no excuse voting now ( some states like GA) for WEEKS before election day there should be NO reason why a person cannot be able to find the time to vote at SOME point.

I would either agree, partially agree, or disagree with this, but only if you can back this info up with an article. :)

Yes, election deniers should be prohibited from becoming electors, and purges should purge both sides (as in if the voter passed away, or has not voted in two election cycles), regardless of who the person votes for.

Do they purge selecivetly or do they purge every few years if someone has not voted BIG difference.
