There is probably as broad a concensus in MJism as there is in any other denomination

A standardized view of creation is not a particular tenent of Mjism

I dont really care much *how* creation actually happened (its sufficient just to say "G-d did it"), but I take the account in the Torah to mean that each Biblical "day" represents a mingling of raw materials (erev) and followed by dramatic bursts of new development (boker). The six days are six epochs, ie stages of the process. The Torah relates it to days so as to teach us to work each day and rest on Shabbat. Or so I think anyway

My father is a geologist and belongs to CRI (creation research institute).
I have studied young earth creation in great extent and there simply isn't a more solid scientific proof yet.

As far as MJ'ism as a whole? There really isn't a standard, but I'd be willing to bet most are.

According to Douglas Adams, the inhabitants of the planet zephrom 4 believe it was sneezed out of the nostrils of a giant celestial beiing. They live in dreadful fear of the time known as "The coming of the great white handkercheif" but this is not what makes them unique, for many races of people believe this. What makes them unigue in all the universe is that they have 7 arms on each side of their body, resulting in the fact that they are the only people in the universe to invent Roll- on-deorderant, before they invented the wheel.

I saw an ad once for a grocery in the midwest. If was having a sale on Virgina Smoked Kosher Hams. I was wondering how they did that. Maybe they meant that the pigs had never eater shell fish.

But I am not so sure about the number 6000 for the number of years
I am looking at evidence that it is closer to 10,000 - 15,000 years
But surely not millions.

I heard that the genealogy of the Bible might be not direct father-son relationships, but actually spaced out more...like beget not meaning one generation, but many, in some cases.

That could explain the 10-15k time span, no?

That is part of it to be sure but there are spans that had to be guessed at check this out:

Jdg 3:31 And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who struck six hundred men of the Philistines with an ox goad. And he also delivered Israel.

See we really don't know what the span of Shamgar is at all only that he killed 600 Philistines with a farm implement.

Young earth...but every day (and even hour) is a distinct reality which may not resemble our own. Example, Eve conceived and bore Cain in just one hour of the sixth day according to Jewish traditions. The days are also also following a divine chronology...and normal rules of time, space and chronology need not apply. Yeshua has "seven eyes" and "seven spirits"...seven distinct vantage points to approach the world from.

That's the closest I can come to describe my view on the subject.

I am a young earth creationist.

As one coming from a strong university science foundation, all I can add is that True science has been rejected in the Universities and replaced by the religion of EVOLUTIONISM with every bit of dogmatism and closed mindedness as any other cult. As for me, I say: Trust the Words of HaShem first and last.
