  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It is just a curious question; I was wondering what others thought about him being set free from his compound. With him being able to move about and view Ramallah, will that spark newfound anger in him towards Sharon >and encourage more suicide bombings? Or is there a moment for peace between the two leaders?
Wondering, thats all.

Ok>>> while I do not side with Arafat (because in my mind he is a terrorist) he has not been found guilty of anything yet.

The best way to approach this is to strongly urge the Palestinian people to find themselves a leader who can actually lead.

Arafat has does nothing for the people, and he just continue to make matters worse. Furthermore, the surrounding Arab nations are using this issue with Israel as a facade for their agenda to remove the Jewish/Arab nation once and for all.

Don't get side tracked>>> Palestine isn't the only battle front in the Middle East right now.

He harbors terrorists, which is doing something wrong. I was rather surprised that he had 14 Hamas terrorists arrested yesterday (or the night before?), so that's a big step. BUT. This is my opinion as to how the whole thing has been going down;

~ suicide bombing in Israel
~ Arafat denounces bombing
~ suicide bombing in Israel
~ Arafat denounces bombing
~ suicide bombing in Israel
~ Israel gets mad and starts kicking some booty
~ Arafat starts crying and playing the victim
~ EU and everyone else feels sorry for him and Israel is the bad guy once again.

Sheesh. I'd love to hear what God has to say about all of this. :sigh:

You are right...

it is all but irrefutable that Arafat is guilty of those things but with all of his international sympathy (europe loves the underdogs) it will be hard to prove anything. That's why I agree with Sandweller.

Any actions taken until he is proven guilty must be diplomatic to avoid even more world wide negative feed back.

I remember about a decade ago when there was a "profile" (kind of a touchy word right now) of the Who's who of terrorist world leaders. Just off the top of my head I recall Arafat being named, as well as Edi Amin (please forgive the spelling), Bin Laden (appx 8 years ago his named popped up, and not a world leader), Hussein, and a few others, including the Shah of Iran. Remember him?

Now that terrorism has reached our shores, and Israel is defending its own people/land, why isn't Arafat being named for what he is, like he was back then?

I sincerely want to know, and wonder why there is so much sympathy and hymn-hawing around this character. It really does confuse me! Call a spade a spade.

Peace in Christ,
Terri

p.s. Where's my pal Wolsley? I need to give him a hug
