  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey guys and gals,

I am going to start having a monthly photoshop challenge. These have been fairly popular in the past and I hope to generate a lot of activity with my challenges.

This is mainly just to help everybody with their photoshop/PSP skills and to 'challenge' you of course. Also this is a learning opportunity. If you have no clue where to start on a project like this and have an advanced graphics editing software such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, GIMP (for the Nix'ers) then just ask and I know there are people, including myself, that will help you get started.

This month we will be helping our little friend the moth. I took this photo today outside of photography class believe it or not. As you can see he has a messed up wing. It seems to have gotten cut and folded under his other wing. If that made no sense to you look at the right side and compare it to the left and you should see what’s wrong with it.

I want you to doctor him up and 'heal' his wing :p Keep an eye on details such as coloration and symmetry. Also, another part of the challenge is to make the file size under 75 KB. Cropping should be kept to a minimum and image size should remain as close to original if not exactly to the same size. The source file as is = 69.2 KB) My ending file is 65.4 :D

As I have in the past I will upload my finished image after a few entries have come in.

Good luck!

-Grant

I'm a brand new member, but I love doing digital artwork. I see that I won't be able to post images until I've been here a while and posted a bunch of messages, so I guess I won't even begin on this image until I've done so. I use Paint Shop Pro, instead of Photoshop, but that shouldn't make any difference, should it?

Cool Tyeise!!! Welcome to CF! :D :p :D

No, it makes no difference what imaging software you use. Its a matter of personal preference.

2Bhumble - I like the backwards approach. I would have never thought about doing it like that. Good job!

I have a hard time resisting challenges, as you'll come to know if I hang around here very long. Since I don't have enough messages, let's see if the forum will at least let me point you to where you can see my pictures.

The repair job - with a touchup on the background is at:

While I was at it, I also decided to make one a little more artisting - maybe similar to a watercolor.

Hope you like them. :)

do i like it? well.....yes, but that's mainly because I own it - so it's what I have

I haven't even used a remotely up to date version of photoshop (it's too expensive, I was fortunate that I was given a copy of dreamweaver & fireworks a few years ago, and I don't believe in copying software so), but i know it's more focused on working with photos, where fireworks is more focused on web graphics

I'm still learning Photoshop (I don't even have the full version...LOL!!), so have mercy on me. :)

(I love the B&W with color highlighted thing- I just learned how to do it recently, so it's become a small obsession. LOL!)
