• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Science is just a systematic study of God's creation, another valid area of human endeavour. Of course non Christian views are out there too, but Christians need have no fear of honest science. Solomon was an accomplished expert in many areas, and many noted scientists have been committed Christians.

science and religion are completely separate, and do not touch upon each other.
Wow. Those people are totally and utterly missing out on a huge part of life. Without science, we wouldn't have technology. We wouldn't have jets. Email. IM. Cell phones. Cars. Bikes.
Science has limits. Recognize them. You cannot be totally dedicated to science and totally dedicated to God. No one can serve two masters.

Science is an idea, that then becomes an action, then a development. If it works, then it's put into practice. If it fails then you go back to the drawing board, and start again.

It's all experienmental.

The interesting thing about science, those things were put there at Creation, and it had taken man a long time to discover them.

I guess the people who were destroyed in the Great Flood had a lot of knowledge.

Then as Alexander the Great marched through all those countries and burnt all the books of knowledge and science to heat up the hot baths in the different cities.

All that knowledge and science was lost.

Science is a set of rules and principles, and sadly many Christians don't understand those rules and principles of those "earthly and heavenly things" that HE put into place at Creation.

Wow, what a thought. Sorry mate, but my opinion is on our Lord Jesus Christ, and what His Word says.

Actually, there is much science in the Bible.

Science and Relgion is men's work.
I agree.

There are people now applying science to the Bible (scientology). The product? They've set their faith to a new ideology away from the Bible altogether (literally).

Stick with what you've been given already

Ive often heard people say that science and religion are completely separate, and do not touch upon each other.
Anyone have any opinions on this?
When you mix the two of them too much, you get into what the Catholic Church got into during the Renaissance. Meaning, they took what was commonly accepted science and made church doctrine out of it. Which is problematic, because science is ever-advancing and the church is supposed to preserve its doctrines. So when Aristotle (not Scripture) was proven wrong by Galileo and Copernicus, the Catholic authorities reacted disgracefully.

What do you think of scientific concepts that are at ends with God (Omnipotence paradox ect.)

That's philosophical, not scientific.

I think that science is the best way for us to progress as a species and improve our quality of life. However, were science fails I tend to go with religion but with the knowledge that one day science might plug the gap currently filled with religion. It is always important to keep an open mind.

Isaac Newton, who is acknowledged as the greatest scientist of all time, believed that the Bible is literally true in every respect. Throughout his life, he continually tested Biblical truth against the physical truths of experimental and theoretical science. He never observed a contradiction. In fact, he viewed his own scientific work as a method by which to reinforce belief in Biblical truth.

Well, I'm a professional scientist and a Christian.

Science and religion use different methods to get at the truth.

Honestly, science proves the Bible. Science proves that things don't just appear, and that something has to be the source of those things. The Big Bang theory disproves itself.
