  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Boasberg is wasting taxpayer money.
Here is the msm version. Appeals court pauses contempt hearings over administration's AEA deportations
The case was put on hold, the decision was 2 to 1. Both of the two judges voting to delay were Trump appointees.

Boasberg orders return of Venezuelan deportees challenging Alien Enemies Act removal

“The Court finds that the only remedy that would give effect to its granting of Plaintiffs’ Motion would be to order the Government to undo the effects of their unlawful removal by facilitating a meaningful opportunity to contest their designation and the Proclamation’s validity. Otherwise, a finding of unlawful removal would be meaningless for Plaintiffs, who have already been sent back to Venezuela against their wishes and without due process,” Boasberg wrote.

“Expedited removal cannot be allowed to render this relief toothless. If secretly spiriting individuals to another country were enough to neuter the Great Writ, then ‘the Government could snatch anyone off the street, turn him over to a foreign country, and then effectively foreclose any corrective course of action.

The ruling gives the Trump administration until Jan. 5 “to facilitate the return of Plaintiffs to the United States or to otherwise provide them with hearings that satisfy the requirements of due process.”’”

BTW this court case is the reason Trump didn't want that 60 minutes report on CECOT to air. CBS sent it to their Canada affiliates though and it aired on their mobile app anyway and got released to the internet.

Other than an interview with a former prisoner (one of the Venezuelans sent CECOT by Trump/Miller/Homan/Noem) the rest was all previously well reported. It would still be a revelation to many people on this forum (and probably this thread).

Boasberg doesn't have the authority that he thinks he does.

I would suggest that the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia knows *exactly* how much authority he has.

I know that this one district court judge is going to be overruled by a higher federal court.

As have all judges. None of which tells us that Chief Judge Boasberg has overstepped his authority.
Boasberg has been overruled before, more than a few times. His decisions are based upon his leftist biases rather than what the Constitution and the laws says. He oversteps his authority as a district judge.
