Lisa0315 said:We can have a discussion here as far as I know. It is only the GA forum that is closed to you. What kinds of answers are you seeking?
My background? I am a Christian. I have been a Christian for about 18 months now. I was raised in church and could quote the Bible before I could read it, but I had a lot of questions growing up. I stopped believing and have only recently returned to the faith.
Other background? I have been married for 19 years, and work as a Cost Accountant at a Fortune 500 company. I have two children, ages 15 and 18.
How about you? What are your beliefs?
Turbulence said:I grew up as an atheist, found my wife at age 21, and turned to believe in God after we were married. For 3 years I committed my life to the Christian church and studied about the life of Jesus. I only recently rejected all ideas that Jesus could be God. Now I am lost and confused as to what is out there and to the bigger meaning to life. For now I am still holding to the fact that at least there is a Creator. But I really don't know about the rest.

I'm currently in graduate school studying secondary education w/concentration in social studies.Turbulence said:Other background: I am a high school math teacher and have been for eight years. I also work at junior college in the evenings so my wife can stay home and raise our children.
Lisa0315 said:Okay. I understand that. I had many problems with the things I had been taught as well. Can you tell me which things are causing conflicts for you? For me, it was the hypocrisy I saw in church. It just didn't seem as if there were really any "TRUE" Christians that I could see.
Turbulence said:For me it was the continuity between the Old and New Testaments. The writings are not consistent. I hold the belief that God does not change (Malachi 3:6), yet you need to believe that God changed His entire way of relating to His people. He also changed the entire system of attonment, sacrifice, and idol worship. Not to mention all the things and practices God thought was an abomination or detestable from the Old Testament that suddenly are alright with Him because of Jesus. This is just a few.
