I have heard a lot about it, been to some churches that do proclaim it, visited some website of apostolic/prophetic ministries, came across some threads here that do talk about it. Yet I think I know little about it, and still feel uneasy about it, mainly because of what I have seen in those churches that do say they are in the apostolic and prophetic movement.

Personally it is not the core teachings that bother me, it is perfectly sound and biblical and it is what I have always believe in, but my problems is the way they associate all things with prophetic and apostolic.
For example the word faith, why it has to be called apostolic/prophetic faith, it is as if when they use the apostolic/prophetic word then it has more power?
Is this just an impression or is there really something else that the apostolic/prophetic movement is trying to associate with or convey when they add the word ‘apostolic/prophetic’ to another word for eg apostolic faith.
And another thing that really bother me is the spiritual father teaching, calling their pastors which is no more pastors but now have an apostle title, their dad. Is this in all apostolic/prophetic movement or is it just a peculiar thing that has nothing to do with this movement ?

I am not criticizing the movement, my apologies if I sound too crude, but I am just curious and I really want to know exactly what the movement is all about?

I was involved in a church that networked across Texas with such a Apostolic covering. Looking back it reminds me of pyramid scheme actually. It appeared sound scripturally, but it didn't operate that way. In fact, the local church sent money to the network church, the network church sent money to the Apostolic covering. All the while they demanded more giving and even handed down reprimands for not giving enough. Also you weren't allowed to hold any position such as pastor, evangelist, teacher, elder, youth minister, etc. if you didn't tithe off your gross income. I would extremely careful around anyone claiming apostolic authority.

I have found that such proclamations are well meaning but sadly lacking.
There are very few churches living within the true prophetic covering... and even fewer under the apostolic covering.
When you start seeing people carried out and buried because they lied to the Holy Spirit... and when you start seeing people healed by the shadow of a minister... then you can consider that minister to be Apostolic.
There are a lot of wanabees.
Sorry I do not mean to be negative... but Romans 12 applies here:

(Rom 12:3) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

If a person is an apostle... then the signs of an apostle will manifest in the ministry.

(2Co 12:12) Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

A person is not an apostle just because they want to be or think they are.
If you are an apostle... you will know it and so will all those around you.

Paul qualified his ministry as an apostle...
Romans 15:15-19 - Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God, that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God. For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 - And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

I joke with a friend of mine on a neighboring town about the "apostles" in our area. About how they looked on the map and picked out the yellow counties and passed that on to Brother So-and-So and "you take the blue ones and I'll take the green ones."

I hold that the five ministries of Ephesians 4:11 - Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers and Pastors - are all in each other in a five fold expression - in all of Us as the Church as we are in the Holy Spirit.

I am not interested in the assumption and adoption of offices.

Koolfriend, You are an Evangelist but it has Apostolic,Prophetic, Teaching and Pastoral qualities and accents.

I do not even worry if I am operating in any of the fivefold ministries.

As for the Apostolic- Prophetic Movement - it is an expression of an an attempt to articulate a Reformation in the Offices and the Expression of the Church -

I have found folks who aren't 'moving in the gifts' yet....tend to sneer or bristle at hearing someone with that title....IMO, those two words have added yet another timber to the great divide between us and unbelieving believers. I seem to remember a gal who came on this forum announcing to us all she was a 'prophet'....I remember thinking, "Okkkkkkkkayyyyy...."

Mark, it’s a confirmation thanks. I did get a prophecy some years ago that God’s calling for me is to be involved in evangelism. But between the prophecy and the reality it seems a big big gap, I guess it’s all in a process and do hope to fulfill God’s plan in my life one day.

Hiddenness is when God is building something into You and Manifestation is when God is releasing something through You
- Graham Cooke.

The reason a lot of people run aground is they cut short the Hiddenness phase and try to stretch and over extend the manifestation phase.

However, you are ready - ask the Lord for Divine appointments to Witness - opportuniites to share Him and the Good News and He will release You into your ministry but in His timing - it will be gradual at first.

Well most the movements are man made, for instance people brand the Kansas City Prophets the Prophetic Movement. While some will brand Bill Hamon and his House of Prophets the Prophetic Movement.

Titles mean nothing if you have the goods the people will not need to read your title. Actually some of the Men in the what is called "Kansas City Prophets" do not call themselves Prophets or even like to be branded a Prophetic Movement.

Some of these men believe their gift is more Revelatory than Prophet. One big problem I'am seeing at present is in the Afro-Amercian Church where the title of Apostle is been handed out left right and centre. Some people do not believe in the Apostlic, I believe we need it, and we are going to see it, but like Rick Joyner has said what is called Apostolic today is very little Apostolic.[/

Again, I did not realize there was something called the Afro-American Church. Can I go there?
