  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the baptism debate commentary thread I stated in response to cbk:

Why are you changing your argument? First you said Christ himself intiated Baptismal regeneration (Mark 16:16). Now you're arguing that it didn't come "hold any meaning" until after his death. You're being inconsistent.
cbk is not being inconsistent, and I apologize for this major mistake on my part.

(I hate being fallible.)

As we're both Protestants, if he wants to continue our discussion on baptism in this thread, I'd be more than willing to.

Sorry again.

As long as we keep it civil , and understand that :
1. Protestant and Evangelicals believe that Baptism is an outward witness to a
inner event ( born again )

2. that the confession of faith and the redemption ( Romans 10.8-9 ) deals with
the sin of Adam

3. that baptism and confirmation , in essence are being born again of water and spirit

4. that the catholic version of baptism is a 2 stage work , similar to dedication and baptism in the PC church

5. that the second work of faith is the laying on of hands , as in Acts 19.5 by the bishop ...

6. avoid the Anabaptist bunny trail ; the concept / doctrine of limbo & unbaptized infants ...

should be a productive discussion ...

And my appologies to all for even posting in that thread to BEGIN with. I failed to realize that I was not allowed to do so. I will now freely post within this thread.... Give me some time, I have some work to do.... In my real job, that is.
Please take your time.
