APOLOGIES: CF offline for 12 hours due to database redesign

CF was offline for about the past 15 hours because I had to fix up database corruption caused by my attempts to convert the database to a different configuration due to the recent reimplementation of the "find all user's post" feature which was slowing down the site intermittently.

Basically, I converted the database to a different format so that it runs faster. However, to tweak it, I need to keep modifying it. Unfortunately, one of the mods caused a database crash, which corrupted the databse. I managed to back it up and restore it.

All this took the whole of last night - I only had 3 hours sleep, if that.

Most of the time was spent sitting in front of the computer waiting for scripts to repair huge tables...

Anyway, the database is now fixed and CF should be running faster than ever!

But it's a very popular feature - it's easy for me to ignore it and enjoy the stable database, but since members like it so much, I try to offer them what they want, within my capabilities and the restrictions of the site.

I got up, saw that CF was off and decided it was a good oppurtunity to get some things done that needed done. So, in a way, I'm thankful CF went down when it did.

When I said mod, I meant modification, not moderator. It was the way I set up the database config.

BTW, FYI, during the time you were down, I was having CF withdrawals. Not a pretty sight.
