  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

ApologetiX - a Chritian parody band

Anyone here ever heard of a rock band called ApologetiX? They are a Christian "parody" band that takes classic rock and pop songs and changes the words around to be Christian. For example, if you remember such hits as Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", and, like me, love the original (artful) arrangements of the tunes but can't stand the original lyrics (which do NOT glorify the Lord) -- ApologetiX's version, "Bethlehemian Rhapsody" is a pleasant alternative. An originally Satanic song turned into a song about David's victory over Goliath. Also, they have reworked the Oak Ridge Boy's "Elvira" into "Elijah". It's amazing how close they come to sounding like the original arrangements.

This band is great! I strongly recommend them.

I have an idea.

Lets be so creative (sense after all we serve the creator the God of creativity) we take the worlds songs and steal them to try and sing them for the Lord ya He'll like that I'm sure... ya lets do that forsure.
Hey cool off

It's not stealing, there's nothing wrong with it my gosh.

Wow! I'm the "old geezer" of this thread! Nice to know that teenagers (and post-teens) are developing a taste for classic pop and rock. I remember a number of those original tunes from before I was introduced to Christian music (I was intrigued by the popular contemporary music when I was a small child, even though I didn't understand the meaning of the lyrics back then).

"Parody" Christian artists seem to be few and far-between. I sure wish there were more of them.

as for apologetic x, i don't know what to think about them. it's not my thing, that's for sure. i'll never buy and album of theirs, but if God uses them, i leave that between them and God, it's just not for me that's for sure. i've never been into parody music period. i like weird al and all, but i've never and will never own an album of his. parody music is just something for the moment if i accidently run into it on mtv, or vh1 or the radio or friends that like it. same goes apologetic x.

Christian parody music, seems to just be for Christians and not able to reach the non-believers a lot of the times. but it's kind of like tv evangelists. mostly Christians watch that stuff, but if one person enters the kingdom of God, i'm cool with it, same goes with Christian parody music. i just won't be listening to their stuff and i don't watch tv evangelists. if i do, it's only for a few min. then i change the channel.

but God will work in whatever way to reach people's spiritual needs and i guess it has it's place because a good amount of Christians like the band Apologetic X. God Bless you all! :)

The ApologetiX are one of the greatest Christian Rock bands I hav ever heard. Not only do I have all of their CD's ('cept for their upcoming one) but I have also been to 2 of their concerts, met them in person and spent an entire weekend with them. Those guys are some of the coolest people anybody could ever meet.

Ya know, I was going to start up a forum for the ApologetiX but it looks like I was already beaten to the punch. Oh well, it's all good. Everybody needs to listen to these guys AT LEAST once before they decide whether or not they like them. Trust me it's worth it.
