Hi.

I used to visit these forums frequently years ago. I was a Christian back then, no religious beliefs now. I see that AV is still doing his [insert] challenge, (I think the first one was the "My Apple Challenge"), I see Loudmouth and Wiccan Child are still here.

To the old-school heads: aren't you bored yet? It's pretty likely that after a certain amount of time, you're probably not going to change your minds. What keeps you coming back to Crevo?
Anyway...it was nice to see some old names are still around.

I'm in, I'm out, but I always seem to come back for more. I keep seeing LM on the political forums and strangely we have similar political beliefs even though we couldn't be further apart on the origins topic. I always seem to learn something from these discussions, the search for source material has been one of the more interesting pursuits. I've developed a fascination for the life sciences, especially genetics. The debate isn't just a contest, it's a process where you allow your ideas to be challenged. That process is important, I've learned more from the died in the wool Darwinian then I ever could from Creationists.

In spite of all the fallacious rhetoric, the flame wars, the constant bickering there comes a time when the search for clarification takes a contentious turn. I came here to learn and came away with far more then I could ever have anticipated. At the end of the day I'm as sure of the testimony of Scriptures as I have ever been, this subject has been the single best exercise in evidential apologetics I've ever seen. No, it's not going to change my religious convictions but what it can do is broaden my view of history, philosophy and a search for answers that remain elusive to even the most learned minds of science and theology.

Frankly I've never seen a better hosted forum for discussing these things and I believe in the driving theme that was, and I hope still is, the core conviction of the forum. The truth will prevail.

Grace and peace,
Mark

The truth will prevail.
The truth can only prevail if people stop teaching their children made up 'Alternative Facts', telling your children to believe what you want to be true rather than what is true undermines not only your children but also the society they live in.

I used to frequent EvCforum until creos stopped turning up.

As this is a site where there is no forum rule to present evidence to support one's point and bear links can be used as OPs I can keep being exposed to creo views.

But yes, I have to take frequent breaks because there has been no new creo research for ages.

Yesiree!

I consider My Apple Challenge as my magnum opus here.

If they took every single one of my threads away except one, I would want the remainder to be My Apple Challenge.

Religious propaganda is not research.

The ICR makes it very clear that it puts the Bible first, data second.

You don't actually get to decide what research is.
Even peer review is being phased out.
And your comments focus was on what was "new".
Not on what you approved of.

That would have been "I don't see anything here I approve of."
which is accurate.

The quality of debate has declined to the point where it barely exists these days. Most of the Creationists are intransigent and immune to correction or they're the usual suspects posting inanity and PRATTs.

It's a real shame. This used to be a pretty stimulating section of CF.

That was all eliminated when personal attacks were banned
and the focus was restricted to the post content.

Did being on these forums have anything to do with you leaving Christianity?

The thing is one can't call something research when the ICR has flatly stated that no answer that is not 'goddidit' will be returned.

If I said I'm going to research into your finances but I've already concluded that you are guilty of wire fraud then you would be justified in saying that my 'research' was simply a waste of time.

I know that the question was not addressed to me but my perception of Christians has changed significantly since coming here.

May I ask in what way?
I was shocked at the punitive nature of some Protestant Christians when it comes to looking after the less advantaged in America, denial of accepted science and trying to weld their faith to positions of power in the government.

I knew America was a very right wing country but reading about how some people here are not for universal health care (so that it is not only the rich who get health care) was very surprising.

I guess I thought that Christians as a bloc would just be kinder than I see here (not even close to everyone, of course).

In my country Christians seem far less authoritarian.
