  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have done very little actual field work, though I've been to the field sometimes. Are you interested specifically in OT or NT biblical archaeology? I can give you a great deal of input on the qualifications and ways to get started, as well as some people you can get in contact with. However, a bit more input from you as to what you're think of would be helpful.

I have a couple of friends on that field. One has been on the excavations on Petra. Dirty, hot, dusty, ... yet so exciting. They are excavating an ancient monastery on a nearby mountain. Picture it on your mind: a camp on desert, far from everything. Very spartan. If you can cope with it, just do it! The feeling when you hold ancient artefacts in your hands is something you just cannot describe. I have seen bronze age excavations near my home, a friend of mine was doing work in there, and she showed me some of the artefacts they had found. It is an ill-paid and heavy job, yet ... I could imagine myself as an archaeologist. Perhaps because I´m quite a fossile myself.
