Anyone seen Robot Wars here?

That program was awesome when it was on! It was aired in the UK, so people in the UK will have seen it I guess.

Robot Wars is a robot-fighting sport, where anyone with enough money can build their own robot, and compete in the Robot Wars knock-out competition.

All you have to do, is knock out your opponents through the rounds (like a boxing match I guess - I think) To compete for a place in the series semi-finals. It sounds easy, but it's MUCH harder than you think! along the CPZ (Corner Patrol Zone), there are 2 dangerous House Robots (there are 8 altogether - including a referee bot, but the House Robots take it in turns in twos) that could damage your robot, so you have to watch out!

there's a panel of 3 Judges who look at how much Conrol, Style, Damage, and Aggression the robots have done. If there's no clear decision, it's up to those brain-box judges to look at that criteria.


There have been 7 series of Robot Wars so far, but I'm not sure if they will do an 8th series, because it's not doing as well now.


BTW, my 2 all-time favourite robots are Chaos 2, and Tornado!

I seen it on TNN. I like it, though I prefer Battlebots over Robotwars because BB is more fast paced. But then Robot wars is an hour long show so more the entertainment eh? My favorite bot was Manta, probably no match for chaos 2. the best part is seeing those really sad designed bots getting pumelled and ripped apart. I mean, the worst bot you could design is a wedge and axe bot! Axe or spike attacks do hardly any damage, even to the lightest aluminum. A robot to go for is a rolling drum.

I wish I could see Battlebots. I've only seen a few 'episodes' of them fighting, but they haven't shown them in the UK in ages!

they were going to do a BattleBots game but when the show was cancelled, they cancelled the game.

Yeah it is much more fast pace. There are no house bots and there is more traps on the floor, theres no pit. But there are giant hammers, grinders, and killsaws that shoot up from the floor.

I have noticed that most british robots are a little slower than the american built ones. Sometimes you will see battle bots from america go against the robot wars UK ones, but it is rare. I did see UK's Killlerhurtz fight in the battle bots competition and it did quite well.

The most interesting designed battle bot and one of my faves was the Super Heavyweight Mechadon by Mark Setrakian.

You can see it moved unconventionally like most bots and would curl its front and back legs while extending its middle for a devistating rolling attack. Unfortunatley, it was no match for a low ground wheeled wedge bot that shoved it up in the corner. But it is one of the best concept and engineered bots to this date!

Yeah I used to watch it, series 3-5 were the best.

I remember watching the US VS UK show, where these guys from the US came over and got absolutly maimed by the UK crappier robots, it was great. The guys from the US were saying how they dont have nearly as deadly machines in the US.

I did see UK's Killlerhurtz fight in the battle bots competition and it did quite well.

Killlerhurtz sucked...

If only they had gone against Razor or hypnodisc, now they would have kicked some ***.
