  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just saw it last week, as a matter of fact! I loved it. I thought it definitely showed what a debt of gratitude we Protestants owe to Martin Luther and those who were willing to stand with him.

I'm not really sure how Alfred Molina got second billing, since he played a minor character and was only on screen for a few minutes.

Oh yes,got it from the library about a month ago,and thought it was really good. I was slightly dissappointed that it seemed to only focus on Luther's disgust with the church selling blessings and fake artifacts, when I read that he also accused them of unscriptural practices such as "prayer for the dead",is one reason the Catholic church canonized the Apocrypha because it gave support for this in the book of Maccabees.

Yeah, the doctrine of justification by faith alone didn't really come through - it focused on his bible translation and his contempt for indulgences. Both of which were, of course, an important part of his life and work.

There were a couple of historical inaccuracies, but that was to be expected. I really enjoyed it.

i thought it was kind of funny that it shows luther dealing with spiritual warfare, but lutherans today dont beleive in spiritual warfare from what i heard. My friend told me that luther did but the lutheran church has changed its beleifs in that.

We have the dvd.I've seen Luther a few times now.I can't say I believe every part of the film but I do believe it's based on facts.Am I wrong?

I've heard that the producers took a couple of minor liberties with history here and there, but nothing major. I'm sorry that I don't have more concrete details.
