Tell that to Paul who fought the flesh (Rom. 7). Maybe you are stronger and holier than Paul.Born again Christians, (the only kind of Christian), are not "in the flesh".
We are in the Spirit.
"But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." (Rom 8:9)
Paul, in most of Rom 7, was narrating the place he was in while still in the flesh, (v5): while he was still trying, unsuccessfully, to please God with Law keeping.Tell that to Paul who fought the flesh (Rom. 7). Maybe you are stronger and holier than Paul.
"Imputed" (credited to, reckoned as, counted as) does not mean "inherent," it is a legal standing before God.Your old man was destroyed and you were reborn of God's seed... but kept the old nature ???
That makes the nature of God sinfully oriented !
I cannot agree.
Yes, it does.
If it doesn't, then there is sin in Christ.
How can we be different from what is imputed to us ?
Which Word, Plan and Purpose include the imputed righteousness of Christ (Ro 5:18-19 1:17, 3:21, 4:5, Php 3:9).Being Born Again , I am His son according to His Own Word and Plan and Purpose.
Interesting that you cite verse 5 but not verse 6.Paul, in most of Rom 7, was narrating the place he was in while still in the flesh, (v5): while he was still trying, unsuccessfully, to please God with Law keeping.
He wasn't still in the flesh when he wrote of his pre-conversion days in Romans 7.
OSAS is not the logical conclusion to accepting predestination. Secondly, and apart from, predestination is taught in scripture.Quoting from The Way and Free Will
OSAS and Lawlessness
Now let’s move to the issue of preservation of salvation. The acronym OSAS stands for Once Saved Always Saved. It is the logical conclusion of accepting Predestination. If God fixes destinies, if I am saved now, then I will always remain saved.
Your conclusion here does not follow. OSAS states that ONLY those born again do not loose their salvation, it does not teach that all that profess being a believer prior to being born again will not loose their salvation. In order for your book to work you need to present an honest presentation of what OSAS actually teaches. The thinking that I will be saved no matter what can lead to (although not always) the thought that it does not matter if I sin, which in turn can lead to lawlessness, even a falling away from Christ.
Let’s study these passages in context. To counter the thought of OSAS we will show from scripture that people can lose their salvation after receiving it.
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. (NKJV, Hebrews 6:4-6)
The first passage shows us clearly, that people who were “once enlightened” - given sight by God, “have tasted the heavenly gift” and have even “become partakers of the Holy Spirit”, can fall away from God, and if they die in sin, will be crucifying Christ again.
I'm saddened that Calvinism has under rated you to such a hopeless status."Imputed" (credited to, reckoned as, counted as) does not mean "inherent," it is a legal standing before God.
I am legally the child of my adoptive father (sonship is imputed to me), entitled to all to which a natural chid is entitled, but I am not actually his child, born of his seed.
The imputation of Christ's righteousness gives me a legal standing before God as righteous, a subject of his kingdom.
It does not make me inherently righteous. . .that is the work of sanctification through obedience in the Holy Spirit (Ro 6:16, 19).
My point was that Paul cites that he is no longer in the flesh.Interesting that you cite verse 5 but not verse 6.
“For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.”
Romans 7:5-6 NASB1995
Paul is just recollecting his past.Paul now speaks about being released from the law so the following verses stem positionally from this.
“For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin. For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.”
Romans 7:14-25 NASB1995
Agreed, as he no longer walks in the "flesh", and is "in" Christ Jesus. These verses represent Paul’s present state and his struggles with the flesh. Paul understand that this war that he wages will be a lifelong struggle. He settles him self for the fight. Paul still sins but thanks God through Jesus Christ our Lord. The first verse of chapter 8 states his conclusion.
“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”
Romans 8:1-2 NASB1995
Yep, Jesus died for sinners.See the “therefore”. We are free from the law of sin and there is no condemnation for believers. Jesus came and died for us WHILE we are YET sinners.
Thanks be to God we are now freed from sin, and from the Law that Paul was unsuccessful at following due to the "flesh".“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 NASB1995
It sure does apply to me, but from the perspective of walking in God, in Whom is no sin-darkness.1 John 1 still applies to all of us including you.
We are saved by grace unto good works. The good works don’t save us, as salvation cannot be bought, but those that are saved do good worksBut given that we are saved by the grace of God through faith apart from works (Eph. 2) then I don’t understand your argument. Are you saying that works are ultimately what saves? That’s almost like believing that the Christian is still under the law, don’t you think?
If you believe that, then I don’t understand your argument with me or the Catholic Church, because that is what the Church teaches. The saved walk in good works_I just simply believe God's promise that is recorded in The Bible, if you do not then that is between you and God.
So God's free gift is everlasting/eternal life, why is the free gift called everlasting/eternal life if a person can lose it.
As for why am i still on earth because God has for believers. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
----------------
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
----------------
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
Belief is more than lip seeI will posit to you that all born again Christians avoid sin as much as being in the flesh allows (Rom 7).
As far as falling, Paul describes how the believers are judged based on their works in 1 Cor. 3:10-15. Salvation is assured for the believers.
We are called to deny ourselves and take up our cross. Christ does not leave us in sin and impute His righteousness on our sinTo do that, we would need a sinless nature, which we do not have.
Perfection in Christ Jesus does not mean personal sinlessness.
It means the imputed righteousness of Christ (Ro 5:18-19, 1:17, 3:21, 4:5, Php 3:9).
Paul explains how our works are judged by their Lord.We are saved by grace unto good works. The good works don’t save us, as salvation cannot be bought, but those that are saved do good works
Jesus warns us again and again to not be slothful.
Not everyone that says Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but those that DO the will of the Father. DO implies good works
Our first command as a new Christian is a call to works. If any man come after me, let him deny his very self, take up his cross and begin to follow in my footsteps
The Gospel is not a call to lip service but a call to action., we begin by basic works of prayer fasting and almsgiving, or what some have said sacrificing our time, talent and treasure. Prayer is time, fasting is treasure, and almsgiving is talent. If we won’t offer these to God, how can we say we love Him?
Another simple act is to love our enemies. We all have enemies, do we love them? Love is a choice, which is choosing the best for them turning the other cheek, giving more than what is asked of you. We don’t have to get them to love us, rather do good to them because we love God. If we spend time in prayer, God will guide our actions and show us how, because He promised that He would do it.
If we say that we believe in Jesus and do nothing, how is that different from demonic faith?
The demons believe in Jesus, they can see Him, but they do not do His will out of love. They scoff at good works and cry, we will not serve.
If you believe that, then I don’t understand your argument with me or the Catholic Church, because that is what the Church teaches. The saved walk in good works
Life is a spiritual battle. The parable of the seed shows that some claim to know the Gospel and can have the word choked out of them
The elect give themselves whole heartedly to God, the goats pay Him lip service and try to hold onto their lives rather than take up their cross and follow Him
Scripture says He who saves his life will lose it. If we do not practice some form of self denial, we cannot claim to follow Jesus. Those want Jesus to follow them, which places them above God. This the elect will not do
It is "regrettable" that you think the imputed righteousness of Christ (Ro 5:18-19) is a hopeless status.I'm saddened that Calvinism has under rated you to such a hopeless status.
No argument from me or the Catholic ChurchPaul explains how our works are judged by their Lord.
“According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each person must be careful how he builds on it. For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, each one’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each one’s work. If anyone’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet only so as through fire.”
1 Corinthians 3:10-15 NASB2020

The believer with saving faith works from salvation not for salvation. Salvation is strictly by the grace of God through faith. The works we do are for our lifetime journey for sanctification since justification has already occurred.
We are all called to serve. It is the cry of the devil and his angels, “I will not serve”-Here are our differences
Nowhere in the parable of the soils does it say that the 2nd, 3rd claimed to know.
2nd soil receives the word with joy - But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
3rd soil also is stated as receiving the word, but becomes unfruitful. To become unfruitful a person had to once be fruitful - Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful
From what you write, it is not believing in Jesus that gives a person God's free gift of Eternal Life. But it is following Jesus and that is simply not true. Elect is to service, there is nowhere in The Bible where it is stated people are elected to eternal life.
God does choose certain people for His will to be done like John The Baptist, John, Peter and the other apostles, Paul. But all of these people had to first believe in Jesus believing Jesus is who He says He is.
We are all called to serve. It is the cry of the devil and his angels, “I will not serve”
We are one body with many members, and not everyone has the same spiritual gifts, but we are all called to serve in our capacity. The simplest way to find one’s calling is to find our enemies.
Jesus commands us to love them. If we won’t even do that, how can we say we are Christian?
Scripture says we cannot claim to love God whom we cannot see, if we refuse to love those whom we can see. If we do that, then scripture says we are a liar and the truth is not in us.
