Anyone Go From COC to Baptist?

Hi there everyone. I was wondering if any of you were once a member of church of Christ and then went to Baptist. I'd like to know what your reasons were if any.

I was a member of church of Christ and it was the first church I started going to.

The main reason I left was because I got tired of the judgement/condemnation that was being passed on anyone who wasn't church of Christ. The philosophy was that if you aren't a member of the Church of Christ you were going to hell. Also we weren't to ever worship at another church such as baptist, etc, because that was a sin.

I also love instruments at church and that was preached against. I never felt moved in COC. Now that we attend my husband's childhood Baptist church I can't begin to tell you how the Lord has worked on me.

Congratulations! I never went to a COC but I'm glad to see that you are in a place where you can grow now!

I've never been to a COC church, but there is one in town that sends out a newsletter to everyone in town about once a month. I've tried to read a little of it, and I can never get through a whole article without throwing the newsletter away. I have sensed a lot of condemnation from just the little bits and pieces I've read. However I do have several COC friends and none of them have that attitude.

Thanks, I'm extremely happy at the Baptist church. It's one of those churches that if/when you can't go you really really miss it.

I had a friend that was a strong COC'er and she was just absolutely wonderful in that she loved the Lord soo very much, but if we were still in touch (she's a missionary now) she would be praying for my soul if she knew I was no longer COC . I still love her to death though.
