  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Anybody ever recognize going thru "stuff"?

Ok suffice it to say, I am considered by my friends that know me well to be kind of a "deep" person. What I am going thru right now....well I'm not exactly sure of the "what" but I AM recognizing that I AM going thru some phase or something...IDK how to describe it but what I mean is....like someone that is grieving (could be me even). We've heard or read that there are different stages right? So in my case I am "feeling" different stages that I am going thru. Does that make ANY sense?
I feel God working in my life, showing me things about myself, and I am analyzing my thoughts (something I do too much lol) and feel like I am "seeing" myself in this "stage" or "phase" or whatever. And I wonder..............................................do other people "feel" themselves going thru things, working things out in their character WHILE it's happening? It seems strange to me....maybe it's not IDK I always thought you could see it in retrospect, cuz that's usually been my case, but at this point in my life, I feel I am watching it happen...TO ME! It's hard, it's exciting, and kinda weird...am I the only one? God I hope not!

I see you.. :)

I seem to be continually going through stuff.. :(

You are definately not weeird and not the only one..

Hmmm I don't know if I would say I seem to be continually going thru stuff.....respectfully it's not a "bad" thing. I just happen to be more aware I guess, and I find that fascinating myself, and wondered if I was the only one.....and I meant weird as in "not usual" so again, not "bad".
See, it's just that I'm not that great at getting my thoughts across very well.
Dayhiker, sorry it was vague to you....it actually helps me understand me AND other people like you :p, so that's a good thing, right? ;)
In any event, thanks for the responses.

Sounds like you are more of a cruiser......meaning like you just cruise thru life, whatever happens, happens, never really trying to figure out the big picture unless it directly affects you at that moment kind of guy. Am I right? Whereas I am just wired so darn analytical its to a fault alot of times. I am always trying to figure out, why this happened, what does this mean, how does it all fit yada yada yada. Can't help myself, although I AM a work in progress ;) God's not finished with me yet THANK GOD! LOL!

A cruiser pretty much discribes me too. I used to be more like you, where I would always be trying to figure stuff out. While I still like to have deep thinking sessions, now its under my control and not taking over everything. I guess my new outlook is more to do with my age and improving mental health. I'm just layed back now, which I feel is my more natural personality.

Yeah I must be a slow learner lol. God is showing me though. Last night reading a book called "Knowing God" by JI Packer He gives a great illustration of Ecclesiastes showing how we cannot figure God out or the why's of things Ecc 3:11, 7:13-14, and 8:17 all basically say, try as you might you will not figure God out. I'm getting there, work in progress and all....

I do cruise thru life. But I don't think its because of the reason you give. I do try to figure out the big picture. I have like 250 college credits. I've read and listened to a lot of material dealing with what I call the history of ideas. I'm probably one of the few Sunday School teachers that has taught church history. I'm currently reading an introduction to the history of Christian theology. So similar to you I'd say I am analytical.

The "advantage" I have , that I've observed from watching people is that I don't seem to have the negative emotions like many people do. I do have the positive emotions, but not as high as most people when they are excited. So for example I got robbed while in a foreign country once. I have some friends who loved traveling to the Caribbean. But when they got robbed they never went back. Me I'd go back in a second. OK so they stole a couple hundred bucks. I'm not going to let that take away the fun I did have on that island.

There's a little window into me :)

OK well I didn't mean to offend or imply that you "don't care" or don't study or whatever. I get it, really I do. Just more of a laid back kind of persona, but not uncaring or foolish. Never meant to imply that you aren't smart or haven't studied, sorry if that's the way you took it. See, that goes back to my ability (or lack thereof lol) to express what is inside my stupid head. And I wouldn't stop going someplace just because of a single random incident either. You just have a better ability, it seems, to have all those analytical thoughts without having them get you all twisted up, and can remain laid back or maybe calm is a better word. Anyway, thanks for the little window into you lol. :D

I can't imagine that you'd ever say anything that would offend me. :)

Well not intentionally, but sometimes I don't word things well and it's hard to read inflection so....have to check and make sure every once in awhile. Plus it helps my post count ;)
