Hi!

I just graduated from ATS and I live in Lexington. What do you play?

Awesome. Congrats on that accomplishment. I used to live in Lexington, but it's too expensive right now!

I play guitar, acoustic almost exclusively. You?

BTW, is your avatar Squall from FF8?

Oh yeah! It's my favorite one!

I play bass and sing backup. My husband plays guitar. We play at Christ Church in Lexington. What kind of music are you into? Besides p&w I like jazz, blues, rock and metal. One of my favorite bands is King's X.

So what are you studying at ATS? I was in the counseling program.

Yeah FF8 was a great game. I also like 10 and 10-2. The addition of voice actors really heightened the experience, IMO. Currently into Star Ocean.

I'm into a wide variety of stuff, but alt/acoustic stuff is probably my favorite. My favorite band at the moment is Keane.

I'm in the theological studies program.

I guess the thing about FF8 that got me was how deeply they developed the relationships between the characters (especially Squall and Rinoa). While FF7 had definite character development, it seemed a bit forced. Plus, I really, really loved the battle system of 8. X and X-2 were great too, though. Right now, I am in the middle of going back through the Metal Gear series.

My brother did the MaTS program too. Now he's working on his phd. If you have a theology class and your prof is named Joey, tell him his sis says "hi." He assistant teaches for Gutenson and Joel Green sometimes. I don't know if he's doing any classes this semester.

The cinematics in FF8 were really great too. Other play station rpg's I like are Shadow Hearts and Xenosaga. Star Ocean has been good, but there are so many private actions that affect the plot and which endings you get to see that it's a little frustrating. My husband plays and I watch (because I love plots and character development). We'll have to hurry up and finish SO, so we can start over and get the endings we really want to see.

BTW, we have a friend that's starting the counseling program this semester. He should be moving to Wilmore soon and he plays drums. Maybe we can get together sometime and jam.

Yeah, if I ever meet him, I will!

Did you ever play Valkyrie Profile? Awesome RPG from Enix. Really dark, but really fun.

Yeah, that would be awesome!

No, tell me about it. Dark doesn't bother me. We're always on the lookout for new games

In this game, you are Lenneth, one of the three death Valkyries that serve Odin, king of the Gods. You are sent to Midgar to search for the souls of the dead. YOu are entrusted with the task of building an army for Lord Odin so that he may wage a final battle against his detractors, led by Loki.

One thing I like about the game (and do not like) is that you continually meet and add characters to your possee. However, you also have to send people in your group to Valhalla, so sometimes you have to get rid of some of your strongest members in order to meet Odin's requirements.

I would definitely check it out!

Sounds like a cool game. Enix seems to have a pretty good reputation for putting out good games.

If you're into rpgs with a little darkness and since you liked Squall, check out Shadow Hearts. It's from Midway. Now we've only played the sequel (Covenants), but they give you a lot of back story, so you don't necessarily need to play the first one first. The main character is Yuri. He's kind of dark, but he's also kinda sarcastic and tends not to takes things TOO seriously. He can be pretty funny. As long as you don't Covenant's brand of religion too seriously it's a very enjoyable game. I can tell you more about it later, cuz I gotta go.

Btw, if you're on campus this morning, my husband will be in the gym setting up the sound system for convocation. I'd love to come and help, but since I'm playing receptionist (we both work for ProSound & Lights) I don't get to go play roadie. I also have to make a delivery. Oh well.
