Received the following via email:
After two years of heartfelt prayer, study, discussions, and observing the leading of the Lord,
Amazing Facts and the Weimar Institute of Health and Education voted on Sunday, April 6, 2008, to proceed with a bold new joint venture. Their respective boards approved an agreement whereby the operations of Weimar Institute will be administered by Amazing Facts with a new board of directors providing direction to both ministries.
It is our firm conviction that this cooperative venture will ultimately save resources while strengthening the primary ministries of evangelism, education, and health. Both organizations are excited about this new synergistic opportunity for Christian mission.
The new board of directors will soon proceed with selecting new key administration for the Weimar Institute. Many details remain to be worked out, which will be announced at a later date. Please join us in prayer that this new association will be blessed of the Lord and be used to expand His kingdom by combining teaching, preaching, and healing in accordance with His example.

Their concept of Christian mission is certainly not the same as mine. Evangelism isn't teaching people about the Adventist health message or proof-texting, the way Doug Batchelor does.

However that is what mission is to the TSDA. They do only what they have always done. They don't seem to realize that such does not work in the Western world anymore. Of course then if it does not work it fulfills their prediction that the Holy Spirit is departing from the world.

I think we have witnessed a microcosm effect in the SDA forum of the results of TSDA methods.

Their idea only brings slavish fear and bondage.

A great work of reform is demanded, and it is only through the grace of Christ that the work of restoration, physical, mental, and spiritual, can be accomplished.

Christ's method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, "Follow Me."

There is need of coming close to the people by personal effort. If less time were given to sermonizing, and more time were spent in personal ministry, greater results would be seen. The poor are to be relieved, the sick cared for, the sorrowing and the bereaved comforted, the ignorant instructed, the inexperienced counseled. We are to weep with those that weep, and rejoice with those that rejoice. Accompanied by the power of persuasion, the power of prayer, the power of the love of God, this work will not, cannot, be without fruit.

Amen.

We heard recently that Weimar was going to close. Apparently AF has "come to their rescue." Many AF people came from Weimar. Now Weimar will probably become an AF clone, which doesn't particularly please me. Years ago it was not that way. My Weimartian friends were among the most tolerant and open-minded people I knew. I don't know what it has been like in recent years, but tolerance and open-mindedness will not thrive under AF influence.

You may not approve of Weimar's type of ministry, but it has helped a lot of people. I know a couple of non-Adventists in my town, one a city councilman, and another a banker, who have very positive impressions of Seventh-day Adventism because they took programs at Weimar that now help them manage their diabetes.

The real keys being what bes highlighted by this one now in RED.
The PROBLEM being that ppls READ those words but mentally substitute "dragging sinners down under the law" and "shipwrecking the faith of potential saints with sick legalistic constructs creating guilt, fear and entrapment in torture" in their place, and imagine these to be the will and way of a supposedly loving and compassionate God.
Are you the night of darkness or the day of light?
Twilight zone all the way, pure and simple. ;)
