  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just lookin' around. I used to work in a quilt store here, and I love it! I love the creativity, the patterns...........it's quite the addiction. Is there anyone out there who also loves to quilt, and what are you working on?? I've got about three thousand [okay, an exaggeration] projects I'm working on. At the present moment, I am working on a wall quilt. Would love to hear back from someone!!!!!!!!!

I used to teach smocking and embroidery at our local quilt shop. It is there that I started quilting. I do understand the 3000 thousand UFO's too.

At the moment I am working of three quilts. Two are for daughters, and one is for my son-in-law. I also have a quilt half finished that was supposed to be for my 25th wedding anniversary. It will get finished. Someday...

What are you working on at the moment?

Ohhh, let's see. I have a Grandma's Bunnies quilt that will someday be finished. It really is cute! It's a hand-applique quilt, and I am going to work on all of them since I can't make up my mind which is the most adorable *LOL*. It may take a long time, but that's okay.
I have a double wedding ring quilt that will also be finshed........some day ;). This will be hand-sewn, sine I wanted this piece to be a little more authentic.
I have a lot of batik fabrics, and I would absolutely LOVE to find some wonderful pattern to show those off with! *sigh* There are not enough hours in the day!!!!!!!!!
Anyway...........these are just a few things I'm working on. Loads of fun, and relieves the stress. Love it...........thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!

I love batik fabrics, and am yet to start collecting some. I have a quilt pattern that I specifically want to do in batik fabrics. It's from quiltworx.com
She does most of her quilts in batik's.
Also pambonodesigns.com has some great quilt patterns.

I have two hand appliqued quilts going. One is a stained window quilt, and the other is a floral quilt, and very detailed.

Yes I agree and few more hours would be lovely, but for the moment the decision is whether I want to sleep a few more hours or not lol.

I'm a quilter as well! am finishing up the binding on a green sampler quilt (one more side to go!)that i hope to complete by tomorrow. I'm right in the middle of making a star quilt (throw size) from the new Beach House fabric by Moda, and i've got about 6 more quilts lined up to make after that one is finished.:p

I haven't done much with batiks, but i did buy a kit this year from Makenna Ryan because i loved the fabrics. Moda is my favorite mfgr--they have such great lines.

so let's talk quilting!:amen:

ps. forgot to mention but i also have the pattern for Grandma's bunnies and i've got all my squares cut for it (30's repro's) haven't started yet but it's on my 'someday' list.

Wow..........sounds like you all have some awesome quilting projects!!!! SOunds wonderful.
I agree, Moda fabrics ARE wonderful, and there are also a few others, like Hoffman [their batiks are to die for]. Love it! Mackenna Ryan, I was trying to figure out if I could do one of her blocks by hand, and gave up after seeing the pieces I would have to sew down :p. She's got great things also.
Thanks for the info about batk quilt patterns!!!!!!!! I really appreciate it. Been looking around forever to find something for those mouth-watering fabrics! :)

the kit i got from McKenna Ryan is called "Willow Beauty". Keepsake Quilts had it in their previous catelogue early in January, but i picked mine up at a quilt show. It's all strip piecing, so no fiddling with small pieces.:) pattern was designed by Lorene Smith. I checked but she didn't have this one up on her site.

another good pattern for batiks is a couch throw, "Candy is Dandy" by Allison Quilt Designs. it's all strips as well, and uses fat 8ths in a range of light, medium, and dark fabrics.

the last pattern i have is called "Primrose Path" by Cottonseed Glory. another strip pieced pattern, this one combines rectangles as well as strips, and is fat quarter friendly.:)
