I notice this area seems kinda dead. Have Adventists either moved to the conservative, historic side of things or moved on to some other church? Is there no moderate/progs left?

I was kinda hoping the more progressive/moderate Adventists could make inroads and get Adventism out of the 1800's. I could see myself belonging to a more "progressive" Adventism focused on Jesus, but not one dwelling on the mark of the beast and 18 headed monsters and evil Jesuits and such.

Goes to show how long a 'liberal/progressive' mentality will keep one in the faith once delivered to the saints.

Do you think that is something somehow inherent in moderate/progressive beliefs, or that the more conservative/traditional people push them out?

I see myself as a (conservative / progressive), after reading my post, how would you place me?

From this post I can't tell. If you mean some other post you have written, you will have to direct me to it. Thanks!

Edit to add: I'm unfamiliar with the classification "conservative/progressive".

The more liberal/culture-affected beliefs are specifically designed to lead souls away from Christ. Adherence to these liberal beliefs is nothing but an open welcome to compromise with sin, and hence eventual apostasy and ruin. Currently, there is no problem with the more conservative group pushing out the liberals. On the contrary, what is happening in scores of SDA churches in North America is that ULTRA-liberal pastors and members are driving out the more conservative crowd and those who want to remain on the solid ground of truth given to the saints at the time of the pioneers.

There is scarcely a semblance of true Adventism left in the USA, except in word. But the final warning call, in the fullness of the Laodicean message, will soon be proclaimed throughout the church, and those heed this straight testimony will become part of the 144,000.

This is interesting. I was raised SDA long, long ago and have been an active Lutheran for around 20 years. I still attend a local Adventist church now and then and frequent these forums to see if Adventism has changed from what I vaguely remember from my youth. Sounds like it has!

You do know that the 144,000 will be only virgin men, right? That leaves me out right away,

They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. 4These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.

I just looked at a few of you many, many posts. You don't seem like an ultra conservative and seem to be willing to use the Bible. Maybe that makes you a moderate? In any case your alright with me!

There is nothing in the Bible pointing to the idea that the 144,000 will only be males. On the contrary, the 144,000 will be made up of men, women, and children from all walks of life. Revelation is a book filled with symbolism, and thus you must follow the Biblical rules of interpretation.

A woman represents a church in Bible prophecy, Jer 6:2, Rev 12 & Rev 17. The 144,000 are said not to be defiled with women in that they are not corrupted by the false teachings of any organized church but profess a pure faith. Spiritually they are 'virgins', not having given over to idolatry and spiritual fornication. Remember how God called Israel a 'harlot' when they would depart from Him and server other Gods? Same principle. The 144,000 represents a pure people who have departed from sin entirely and have been transformed to perfection of character and moral stature by the Holy Spirit. These will give the Final Warning to a perishing world and will be instrumental in helping God establish a perfect universe of peace...

Do you find anywhere in the Bible where the 144,000 is said to be " men, women, and children from all walks of life"? Thanks

You were sure taking the 144,000 thing literally when you said this:
