• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any PDA Users?

I have an ipaq but I only know of one, sorry. To use it you must install Linux on your Ipaq to use it. I'm guessing you don't have an Ipaq or run Linux on it so I won't bother with a link even though it is a great bible study program. I'm running windows on my ipaq so I cant use it either. If I knew of a program that you could download then I'd post a link for you but I don't know of any yet.

So I downloaded it and installed KJV and Darby and it worked fine. Sad to say there are really not many ad-on modules for it though. But there are a few things I use from the list and I don’t use my Ipaq for serious study anyway (reference tool). Here is a link to that software I mentioned. It runs on the Qtopia operating system and has 250 ad-on modules/books (mainly classics :) ) If I didn’t already have all these modules on my other computers as I do then I’d probably rip windows off of my Ipaq and install Qtopia to run this. http://www.crosswire.org/qpsword/

I run Laridian on mine...complete with NIV, NRSV, and the Message. I also have a DailyReader which has several "through the Bible" plans.

If you are a preacher and use the revised common lectionary, you might want to check out www.textweek.com, which has a PDA section on their website. If you use avantgo in conjunction with textweek, you can always have the next two weeks worth of lectionary readings and study materials on your PDA. Great function!

Peace,

WJ

I have a decent palm Bible, but I would really like to have more bible versions for it. PDA is a PalmOS system, tiny screen.

Actually PDA stands for Personal Directory Assistant and is a general name for any handheld computer. Palm has their own Operation System that runs on their PDA’s and also runs on some other manufacturers PDA’s. You also have other PDA’s that run Windows and Linux as well. Those are three major commercial OS’s I know of for PDA’s and I’m sure there are other OS’s out there.
