  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was just curious to see if there were any other parents of preemies out there.

My son was born at 27 weeks, 3 days. He was 12 1/2" long and 1 lb. 11 oz.- totally healthy, just really small. I had pre-eclampsia and the only treatment is to take the baby.

If I can figure out how to post a picture, I can post a then and now so you can see his miraculous growth.

I'd love to hear from others. I'm curious to see what happens later on. My son is pretty short (but as the pediatrician pointed out, so am I) but healthy. I'm wondering about those recent studies that showed preemies having trouble later in school.

My four year old was also born at 27 weeks. He spent 3 months in the neonatal intensive care. He's doing great now. The only lasting affect is moderate cerebral palsy, but he's doing great with it. Otherwise he's doing fine. And as for his size, he's caught up with every other child his age. Those first few years are really quite the challenge, but what spiritual growth I've had through them.

Hard to image just a few years ago, medical technology wasn't available to keep these babies alive. How fortunate are we? What blessings these little ones are.

Andie I guess was a "late preemie" (or I think that's the term)...I was induced at 35 weeks also because of pre-eclampsia...but she had stopped growing at I think like 32 weeks....she was 4 lb 14 oz and I don't remember how long....but we were lucky, she didn't have any problems at birth & scored 10 on both APGARs they gave her....she had a little problem with jaundice, but it cleared up pretty quickly.

Now she's a normal happy (yea, most days! hehe) 2 1/2 year old...she's very petite...she's in I think the 10th percentile for weight (she only weighs 25 lbs) and height though is like the 70th...tall & skinny maybe?? So she still wears like 18mo pants!!
