Any other Christian gamers out there?

I know this may sound like a bit of an oxymoron but I'm a God-fearing man who enjoys video games. And I know from experience that I'm not the only one!
But seeing as how many of the gaming communities are so openly hostile towards people of faith I've created my own group called Prodigal Gamers, with the purpose of giving Christian gamers a safe place to enjoy themselves and still feel challenged and help each other improve both as gamers but as believers as well.
My other reason is my 11 year old son. I know the vile language that goes on in online gaming and I don't want him exposed to that kind of language. So if you have children I invite you to check us out.

Prodigal Gamers is not my first attempt at a Christian gaming group. its actually my 4th the others being groups that were focused on a single game But this one will be for all games and all platforms (with some obvious exceptions). So if you're tired of the toxic language and behavior that's so prevalent online. Or if you want a safe place for your kids to play I invite you to check us out.
And for those of you who don't use facebook we offer a discord server as well. In fact I encourage everyone to join our discord server as it allows better control and communication.

I have played the Lord of the Rings Online for 7 years. I have found many kinships that are Christ centered. However, for the most part I play solo, so I usually don't come across many hostile players. As far as language is concerned, dogs bark, so why should I be surprised when pagans swear? It is the fallen world, after all. I think it is contrary to the way of Christ for Christians to hide from the world. They need the light. Jesus was a friend to sinners, and so should we be. Too much fear in the Church that the world will affect us instead of us affecting the world.

I don't play video games as such, but I do use the Steam Client on Linux and have a few favourite games that I play regularly.

I agree and Im not hiding from the world in fact I allow non Christians to join with the agreement that they treat those who are Christians with respect and follow the rules of the group. It has afforded me the opportunity to share Christ and the gospel with those who I would not have otherwise.
My belief is I cant change your mind if i don't engage you and I cant engage you if I shut you out

The rule is mostly for our younger gamers basicly their parent joins via facebook and we are just the vessel they use to help find their kid someone to play with. If there's ever an issue we deal with the parent directly (thankfully that has never arisen

I game occasionally on XBoxOne. I don't qualify to call myself a gamer, but there are a few games I enjoy from time to time. Mostly racing sims, flight sims, or action/RPG. I've never gamed with other people. Gaming has always been a solitary activity for me.
