I've been painting miniatures for a variety of games since approximately 2009-ish. Anybody else out there do that? For me, it's my Zen time, my peaceful moments away from the hubbub of modern life. I am currently focusing on 3-D printed miniatures and may well be scoring a printer from a co-worker in the very near future to start printing my own. Anybody else?

I do mini-painting. Mainly Warhammer 40,000 with a touch of other stuff on the side (looking to do a Warhammer Fantasy Empire army this year). Though my painting is hampered by the general... horribleness of British weather, though since it's getting warmer, I intend to do much more.

And I share your goal of wanting to get a 3-D printer. There's so much good stuff out there, especially for terrain.

By painting being hampered by the weather, do you mean spray priming? I live in Texas, where the weather is really unpredictable half the time and is blasting hot the rest of the time, and by now, I'm all about airbrush priming, here. If you have an airbrush. I can't recommend that approach enough, because even though it's still recommended you let it cure overnight? If you really want to, you can start to painting on airbrushed primer 30 minutes to an hour after priming. Works for me anyway.

Christopher, will you post some pics of your work? I'd love to see them! I don't paint miniatures but I relate to what you're saying about it being so relaxing. Anyhow, if you post pics, I'm there!!!!

Its been a long time, 5+ years and my vision is not so good anymore for closeup work (eyes getting old) but I used to enjoy it a lot; it was very meditative and I enjoyed it. Made me feel good to see how well they turned out. I would mount them on Recovery coins for friends sometimes for anniversaries. They are tiny; those are pennies under the slinger/archers.

Loved this site for looking up models; the whole community is SUPER dedicated to historical accuracy and you can learn a lot. HAT are a good cheap mid-range. Zvezda does some INCREDIBLE models (Russian company, FYI, so don't buy a bunch I guess these days); I did the Parthian Cataphracts they were amazing (don't have them anymore)

Heh. One time a Stinkbug wandered across my worktable while I was doing detail work on the Parthian army. Wrong time wrong place buddy lol. He left looking like he was heading to a Pride parade rotfl.

Very impressed by the pics of the miniatures you've painted! You've given a very life-like quality to the figures. Well done!
