  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everyone,

I am a proud owner of two baby girl mice. I only got them a few days ago! They are called Indy and Nibbles and there are pictures of them in the pets gallery. I've owned about 6 mice previously in my life but there's been a gap between my last one and these two.

Just wondering if there were any fellow mice-owners out there? If so, tell me a bit about your mice! I love mine so so much!

:)

Do rats count? ^.^ I've had 3 rats.

Ooooh. I suspect that mice are like rats and as for general info NEVER ever ever ever get those plugin pest things. It messes with their nervous system and makes them starve as they won't eat. I lost both my hairless rats (I got them because a friend was allergic to the other kind) when I was at my parents home because of these. I didn't know they had them and when they showed up with problems no one knew. And I'd wasted all spare change getting home and the parents refused to pay for a vet bill. It wasn't until one died that my parents remembered their little plugin things... the other died 2 days later. -.- I hate those plugin things. It won't kill free range ones, but it will kill caged ones that can't get away.

I love rats and mice seem just as kind. I currently have a great dane at my parents home, and a rabbit at my fiance's apartment (mine wouldn't allow him and my parents don't like him) otherwise I'd get more. Oh, and my roommate has two cats...

Aww that's so sad about your rats. Sure rats will count :) They are sorta just like big mice really....

I once got clawed by a rat and that turned me off them. I like the teeny tiny mice because theyr'e so cute and run around heaps and are so light. I love how they quiver. I've been trying to train mine with food. They're so adorable.

There's a little tunnel they can go up to get to their "house" in the cage and mine always goes up the tunnel but my boyfriend's mouse always jumps on the side of the cage and makes her way to the house by scaling the wall! It looks like sooo much effort! But it's cute and she's getting faster and faster at it.

:)

My rat Neo, he'd always come to the sound of his treats bag. He was also a supreme escape artist. I once woke up to him curled up in the crook of my neck sleeping. He was a dear. He spent most of his time outside the cage. He was always following me around and he was very good at coming so he had almost free range of the apartment when I was home. I never did train him to do anything other than come to me. I didn't have the other two (Piggly and Ingles) long enough to train them that well. They were also a lot more shy and I was trying to work with them on that.

I would like another rat, but my giant bunny and my giant dog are enough for now.

awww Piggly, that's such a cute name!

We lost Nibbles the other night, found her half an hour later in the bottom of the panty. That was scary, but I put her back in the cage and she was straight back onto the wheel like nothing had happened lol. Have you ever lost one of your pets for a long time?

I had a mouse named Despereaux Jenna Tilling, that is his full name. I called him Dessi. I got him the day after my cousin died in a car crash. He was grey and adorable! He got out of his cage once and I found him curled up in my slipper. I loved him. Then my friends cat ate him...I was soooo sad!

I have 2 rats: Hannah and Zipporah. They are incredible wonderful pets, similar to tiny dogs. They don't have free range of my place, but they do have free range on the top of the entertainment center. A few times Hannah, the more adventurous one, has made her way into our bedroom at night. Typically, she is crawling around our heads trying to wake us up.

I can't recall losing one of my rats. Piggly and Ingles were always really shy and so I never let them have free range of the house. I usually allowed them the couch and the living room with LOTS of supervision. Neo always stuck to me like glue and if he by chance wasn't he was only ever a treat shake away. Neo really was like a mini dog.

I have lost hampsters before. Those can be hard to find. We had one running around our house for around a month before we found him. He'd made a nest in my mother and granny's sewing room out of scrap fabric they hadn't cleaned up yet, and he got food and water from the dogs' bowls. He was doing great. I don't think he needed us.

:sigh: Memories... I used to have a wonderful mouse named Maximilien, just loved 'im to to death. He liked to be scrooched (not squished, as the picture may suggest), and I took the little guy with me everywhere. It's a shame that we only get such a short time with rodents....

Now I've got two really awesome rats, Felix & Simon.:D

Blessings,
