  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just wondering if there is any other Marines out there. I joined the Corps late August just before school started. I leave for boot right after I graduate, June 12th it’s at Parris Island, S. Carolina. God bless me!

Oh, and is there anyone else in the Navy? My brother is in the Navy as well. He is a Hospital Corpsman and is stationed at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, SC. He works at the USMC Recruit Depot on Parris Island. Isn’t that neat? I will be at boot training, and he will be there too! Except the only way that I could really see him is if I get hurt or something. That wouldn’t be too good….

My husband is a Marine. My best friend's husband is at DI school right now, and will be a DI at Parris Island starting in January. Maybe you will get him ;).

Good luck at boot camp and God bless your choice to join the service. If you end up coming to Yuma, where we are stationed, let me know, I will cook for you. We do the Adopt a Marine/Sailor program, and I love cooking for my hubby's Marines when the are new. I hate the idea of all you young guys being alone and far from home. Also, we have been to Camp Pendleton, Cherry Point, and my dh has been to Kaneohe, if you ever need info.

Again, good luck and God bless. :)

my son is at boot camp right now - graduates 12/2 - he will be going to Camp Leguene after some time off for the Holidays - he is loving it - I am placing a website which deals with all the Marine Families during and after Boot Camp

http://p088.ezboard.com/bparrisisland

This is awesome site - which their are Marine Wives that answer questions for family members - oonce you go - you will be given a Platton # and as soon as you get there - you have 1 phone call home give your family that platoon number and they can see online what is goiing on and they will also see pics of your platoon - every week it is updated. my son - still hasn't called me since that 1 call - but he is getting free time and will call me.

If you have any questions PM me

God Bless you

Hey! My boyfriend joined the Marines in Jan. and left in July after he graduated to go to Parris Island. He was there almost his whole 3 months but got a medical discharge because of his back being hurt. He misses it though. Good luck and congrats! And the website that was given is AWESOME!! It was home for 3 months, and a lifesavor.

GraceInHim: I will try to go the site. But I mainly have internet at school and they blocked it for some reason. IDK why. But I will inform my mom. Maybe my brother knows about it…thanks! I am glad! My training is in Biloxi, Miss. For 11months at Keesler Air Force Base. Gotta love that!

3girls2dogs: I shall see…but I am in the females’ platoon so I don’t thinks so, but you never know…I still have to get through my DEP every month. I just had a meeting Sat. and we had a birthday party for the Marine Corps. Go 230!!

Oh, and thanks…I shall look ya up if I ever get to Yuma.

I wish you luck on the Island. You'll be part of 4th Battalion, out in the boonies w/the reruits of 3rd Recruit Battalion. Just remember that it's just business, never personal with the Drill Instructors. Bust your butt and show allot of motivation and you'll be alright.

OO-RAH!!!

Semper Fi!

what wonderful words I recall - hey my son writes alot and everything has been positive - his platoon got the flag (YEAH) -

Hey on another note - my hubby went to see the Marine movie - forget the name - it was about the Desert Storm war - well he said it digusted him - made the Marines seem like pigs, sexual, and got it all wrong with the war - he went into Kuwait during this time - so he would know - so just a note - for any who are joining - Marines are nice and have so much respect for all - it is sad when someone make them look lesser -

My husband saw it too. He hated it. He also said it made Marines look horrible and he said it was really innacurate. He liked Jamie Foxx's character though. I didn't go with him, he went with his unit. It didn't go over well.
