  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lets compile a list of ideas of gifts to get for our spouses for Valentines day..especially our husbands..lol...why is it so much harder for a woman to buy for a man for Valentines day?? Any good ideas? How bout list gifts you bought for your spouse for a past valentines day.

My favorite gift that sticks out for Valentines day was when dh and i were dating..he got me a dozen roses and a cute fluffy stuffed white dog! Its been all downhill from there..he is a great guy..but not too romantic..lol

I got my hubby stuff for his telescope. An eyepiece that he wanted, a barlow lens, and a solar filter. It's not super romantic, but he'll be very excited about it. It's sort of a combination birthday/Valentine's gift, I guess.

He's done sweet things in past years for me...jewelry, flowers, nice dinners. He thinks it's a silly holiday, but he indulges me because I'm one of those silly romantic girls who loves it. :)

I'm taking wifey out to watch a theater performance called "No Sweetheart Required".

It's a collection of short romantic comedies.

The evening will be seasoned with some flowers, chocolates, and maybe a pair of thongs.:yum:

Oooh, I LOVE theater. I'm sure your wife will love it. Now, how to get MY hubby to come up with something that thoughtful...

I've been hinting to hubby if he'd like to go to a theatre....no response yet. So we'll see. :)
My hubby really likes theater actually. We've gone several times in the past few months...it's just getting him to coordinate the fun stuff I really love with the holiday that I really love to celebrate. ;)

Maybe try going as a family first? We took our kiddies to see Beauty and the Beast and after that he was hooked. ;)

LOL, and I take it back about him not coordinate theater dates with holidays...he did take me to see Bram Stoker's Dracula for Halloween. :D Yeah, I know, how romantic. :D

 Well,

I've already taken my husband shopping and "let him" buy me a cup/chocolate basket, a large 2 foot tall plush stuffed rose and a hello kitty flashlight for valentines day. Our agreement as always is I can have them now but cannot use them until after the holiday arrives. He loves that I tell him exactly what I want and even take him uptown and show him exactly what it is that way he knows I will enjoy it and he cannot be blamed for getting the wrong present or forgetting the holiday. (yes I get to pick all my own birthday and christmas gifts too, and like them all very much) It's a win win situation.

As for hubby he would rather have a bubble bath with me or "gift certificates" for foot rubs/back rubs etc that I write out for him to redeem when he wants them, which funny enough usually get redeemed when I am not happy with him and so I must grin and bear it as I get out the massage oil.

DH's favorite thing in the world is new socks....he'd wear a new pair everyday if we could afford it LOL
I have no idea why...he claims it's the fluffy stiffness that new socks provide...
so he's getting socks...
I know it sounds so lame, but ... he's like a little kid with a toy he's always wanted when he sees a package of new socks LOL...

I think we're going to a hotel for hte weekend...hehe no kids, no mom...just us out of the house and on our own LOL

He is so right about the new socks!!!!!

We are lacking in the romance department at my house. We'll probably do Chinese takeout by candlelight and a movie

be thankful. My hubby could wear the same socks for 5 yrs until they each have 10 holes in them and wouldnt care. If i dont buy new socks for him he never even thinks of it. Some of his socks are pretty nasty. this thread has inspired me to get him some socks for valentines day! lol

:) that is exactly what my dh would do too, I think we will have a much needed date night, we dont usually do gifts, If I had the money I would love to do one of the motel valentine packages dinner, chocolates, hot tub, candles, maybe next year.
