I have bad knees, ankles and feet from karate. It wasn't until I was 30 that I started running so all of the old injuries just made it difficult to heal after a long run. It got so bad I would take an anti-inflammatory an hour before I ran to get the swelling down. Right now I do a lot of bad work and some jump rope. I find jump rope affects my ankles but my feet and knees can handle it.

I do miss running.

You know what they say about running; it is a cardiovascular dream and an orthopedic nightmare.

That is a very true statement for some.

Well, the pain receptors don't always go along with that and that is good, because it is your bodies way of telling you something is wrong.

Big difference between; the discomfort of pushing yourself to the limit and the pain of an orthopedic injury.

I use to enjoy running but have too many injuries to continue with any real commitment.

Ditto. Just can't run like I used to. Back issues mainly. I did some yoga for a bit and that helped with the back issues alot though so I may have to try running again as spring and summer approach it's a great way to get some exercise and be outside at the same time! :thumbsup:

My son and I have been back to boxing the last month. We keep it up through the winter but as soon as it gets nice out we crank up the workouts to every other day. We jump rope for rounds and this has been a blessing to someone who loved to run but can't.

I can do 30 min. straight and get a good cardio workout in.

I miss my boxing. Was always my favourite workout. I would always just go and spar. I hated doing technique so always came to training late for the hard sparring at the end. :)

Skipping is a fantastic workout. :thumbsup:
