I listen to various audio books to try to help with anxiety.
Not all people will tell you what works to stop your fearing.
"Test all things; hold fast what is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
I often hear that we are supposed to have no fear
Well, Philippians 4:6-7 says >
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)
So, being anxious is not being obedient to God. And it is against how God would rule us in His own peace guarding our "hearts" and our "minds". I note how this says that God wants to guard our "minds" with His own peace. Therefore, we are not excused to have evil things messing with our "minds".
Also, we have 1 John 4:18 >
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." (1 John 4:18)
So, fear is against God's love. And God loves us; so He in His love casts fear out of us, because there is "torment" in fear.
We can see how a lot of things are forms of torment in us. And the torment is connected with fear, in some way. During depression we can be tormented by things we somehow fear. And during boredom we are tormented by our fear of not having something we would like to do. And during loneliness we suffer torment. Unforgiveness includes torment. And even lust for pleasure can involve torment of desiring something and somehow fearing not getting it.
But with God we have almighty immunity against fear and its various forms of torment. While we obey Him in His peace, we are in His immunity almighty against cruel and dominating things of Satan's spirit of selfishness.
So, what is the solution? God through Jesus casts out whatsoever is evil. We do not try to manage it or vent it or treat it like "energy" that needs a constructive outlet. It is of Satan; so it needs to be cast out >
"nor give place to the devil." (Ephesians 4:27)
Do not give Satan any place in us for any of his stuff. And if we are attacked or even give in to some awful thing in us . . . trust God to get rid of it. And keep on trusting Him to totally get rid of it. Do not "treat" it, do not try to do things to feel pleasure so you don't feel Satanic stuff. But get rid of it.
Below is scripture which names some wrong things and this says to put them away from you > in other words, get rid of it, do not allow it to stay, in any way, at all >
"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32)
So, this scripture also says what to do, instead . . . how to relate with other children of God in His love. And this includes to forgive the way God in Jesus has forgiven us. So, here we can see, also, how unforgivness is unacceptable and we need to get rid of it, not to somehow try to negotiate with it. Unforgiveness is anti-love.
And while we stay in unforgiveness, we stay in weakness so we can keep suffering in various ways. And in the weakness of unforgiveness we can be weak enough, then to give in to fear and anxiety and their various sorts of torment. And then we can be tricked into trying to feel nicer by means of wrong pleasures and human remedies which do not cure our character like only God can.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)
I told someone that brave people have a fear of fear as they say “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself “ but in actuality that also is a fear.
It seems there are even ministers who will say that if you are afraid of doing something that God wants, do the thing anyway - - - even while you are still afraid, ones seem to be saying. But it is clear to me, that God's word says His love casts out fear. So, I see it is not Biblical to do something while we are still fearing.
But in God's peace, do what He has us doing >
"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)
I often pray to be free from anxiety.
"casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)
