• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For some reason at Bible study last night my skin was crawling during the last half hour. And a "prayer request hog" was there which made it worse. I almost said to my wife, I've got to go, but I'm too embarrassed to do that. I take extra drugs before being with people but it had no effect whatsoever last night.

Has anyone just left? Or gone in another room? Or done anything else?

I think in a situation like that it is better to get up and go to another room. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone, unless you do. If anyone thinks anything about getting up they may just think you are going to the restroom. God doesn't not want you sitting there full of anxiety. *hugs*

I took one of my kiddies to a birthday party of a friend, and was doing ok. I took extra meds before I went. About 45 minutes in, I was standing in the kitchen, where three other people were. I aready was feeling anxious, because I was not participatin, or being involved in the conversation. Out of no where, honestly some 15 people cam in, and all started talking, I literally was getting in the way. The noise level spiked, and so did my anxiety, to the point of having to go in the living room, leaning aginst the wall. It took about 10 minutes to calm myself back to where I originally felt... It was scary, just how fast it can hit you!

It does hit quick. Noise for me is such a trigger. We took the girls to the arcade the other day..I had to walk outside and my husband stayed in with them. Figured better to go outside then to have them leave. Quiteness is always good. I wouldn't mind still being on something for anxiety, but no matter what I tried it knocked me out or made me feel dizzy and I wasn't able to do anything. I need something to help me over the anxiety of driving....but being dizzy, lightheaded and such doesn't mix too well with driving. O well.

I have been known to just get up and walk around outside for a bit. I've done it in department stores, even at family gatherings. I don't do well around a bunch of people. Especially if they're all talking at the same time, so I just politely get up and walk out afore I explode.
Praying for you
