Another question: Spectral Interferometer

As a college freshman who thought a 200 level Astonomy class wouldn't be a challenge and now has a week to write an eight page research paper on the above named item, am I committing suicide?

As well, can anyone points me to any works that explain the above in the least technical way?

Seemed to have some useful information to me. Wikipedia has a bit on interferometry as well.

To be honest though, you'll be spending a lot of time on what an interferometer does, and its history: I can't imagine writing an 8 page paper on just the instrument itself.
