  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The ark of the covenant was to be constucted in just such a way (Exodus 25:10-22). The lid atop this gold covered wooden box was to be of solid gold with two cherubs (one on either end). The lid is referred to as the mercy seat.

Exodus 25:22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

Now notice:

John 20:11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, 12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

The Mercy Seat atop the ark of the covenant was a prophetic depiction of the slab in the empty tomb where Jesus body had lain in death but was raised from the death unto eternal life.

hmmmn...........I think that's "reaching"....it's a good job and well thought out...er at least thought about alot but I think you have to want to believe that really bad to make it so. Job's name started with a "J".....is that prophetic? No that's not as diligently thought out as yours but...

I think the better question to do with the Ark and Exodus(I think I already asked this in an other thread that never went anywhere) is this:
God says....
Exodus 20:4 4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
but then tells Moses to.....
Exodus 25:18
18And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.

The thing is a matter of origin. Put another way:

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

doesn't mean God can't.

Exodus 20:4 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

As far as the temple implements:

Hebrews 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

And the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant as I am sure you know is the place where the blood ofd the annual primary sacrifice was sprinkled by the high priest enabling the Lord's acceptance of all sacrifices that year.

Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Still think it's a stretch?

I don't.

I think you've seen something that a lot of us (me included) might have missed.

Just this morning my morning radio preacher was making comparisons between the Tabernacle Moses was instructed to build and Jesus and the tomb in which He was laid and I remembered this thread...

Magnificent insight, my brother...thank you for brining it to light.
