“There are five reflecting panels on the Moon. Two were delivered by Apollo 11 and 14 crews in 1969 and 1971, respectively. They are each made of 100 mirrors that scientists call “corner cubes,” as they are corners of a glass cube; the benefit of these mirrors is that they can reflect light back to any direction it comes from. Another panel with 300 corner cubes was dropped off by Apollo 15 astronauts in 1971. Soviet robotic rovers called Lunokhod 1 and 2, which landed in 1970 and 1973, carry two additional reflectors, with 14 mirrors each. Collectively, these reflectors comprise the last working science experiment from the Apollo era.”
Laser Beams Reflected Between Earth and Moon Boost Science - NASA
Dozens of times over the last decade NASA scientists have launched laser beams at a reflector the size of a paperback novel about 240,000 miles (385,000www.nasa.gov
Using these mirrors is how we know how far the moon is from the earth and are able to see variations by studying the data. These mirrors are still on the surface of the moon.
@Apple Sky and @d taylor. Please explain how it is that we have reflective mirrors on the moon surfaced delivered by Apollo 11 and Apollo 14 crews still used today to measure the distance to the moon?
They are still in use today. We know the distance to the moon but there are variations in the orbit so the reflectors allows the scientists to charter these changes. How do we know that these reflectors are on the moon ? I thought they knew the distance to the moon.

Not pointless at all. The reason they left the reflectors on the surface of the moon was to continue studying the moon. And yes, they have been there for over 50 years.A bit pointless, wouldn't you agree ? They've not been been back for well over 50 years, that's if they went in the first place.

Why are you mocking India going to the moon, and have posted a clip which shows India landing on the moon?Serious though if you mean India has been to the moon recently, what a farce that was.

Worse? Worse in what way? What is funny about them?Because it's funny, their rocket ships get worse.
So? They still landed on the moon.Because it's funny, their rocket ships get worse.

Apple Sky, the retroreflectors are on the moon so that anyone can bounce laser pulses off of them to confirm the distance and the fact that man has been there. And that has been done many times by universities and others all over the world.
ETA: And since you like to use "argumentum ad YouTubeum", here's Mythbusters doing just that.
And yet you've found, and posted, a YouTube clip of people landing on the moon. The ship looks like a cartoon sketch. You cannot be serious.
The point is, anyone can do that experiment - yes, even you. With suitable equipment of course, but it is not that hard to obtain. This video showed nothing (photo) to suggest that these reflectors are there.
And yet you've found, and posted, a YouTube clip of people landing on the moon.
Bubble Cars and drones look to me like cartoons, but they really exist or existed. I don't conclude simply because something looks vaguely amusing, that it didn't really exist. The ship looks like a cartoon sketch. You cannot be serious.
So what do you think a space rocket should look like?Yes, just to show how absurd that rocket ship really is, they've got be having a joke on the gullible.
