It’s not a new rule.Everyone may be a liar to some degree or another, but not everyone is president or running for president.
Have fun with the new rules, guys.
If Richard Spencer himself (or any other public figure) were posting here, he would be obliged to follow the rules like everybody else, or he won’t be allowed to continue to post here.Posters are defending a figure that is demonstrably uncivil. Not a few rare instances of incivility, but almost a daily occurence through tweets. If Richard Spencer himself was posting here, how civil do you really think the discussion could be? And when other posters start defending the awful things he would say, why would they deserve civility?

And it’s not a matter of whether people “deserve” civility. Civility is the rule whether or not anybody deserves it.
Advisors may correct any of the above if I’m wrong.
Rules are defacto made to make people act a certain way. Posters support a habitual rule breaker according to forum rules, so good luck modding the squaring of that circle.I’m not going to make you act in any certain way. We are just explaining what’s going to happen.
If Trump himself posted here, I don't think the mods would treat him the same as the rest of us. The backlash if Trump was banned here would be immense. If Richard Spencer himself (or any other public figure) were posting here, he would be obliged to follow the rules like everybody else, or he won’t be allowed to continue to post here.

Locks keep honest people honest. Rules function similarly.Rules are defacto made to make people act a certain way. Posters support a habitual rule breaker according to forum rules, so good luck modding the squaring of that circle.
I doubt he’d make it a week.If Trump himself posted here, I don't think the mods would treat him the same as the rest of us. The backlash if Trump was banned here would be immense.
On paper, all along. In practice, hopefully soon. When does that start?
I suggest that in politics the norm is to tell untruths.
Trump himself doesn’t post here, and neither does Spencer for that matter. I suggest we not muddy the waters with “what about” and discuss the topic at hand. Flaming and what’s to be done about it.If Trump himself posted here, I don't think the mods would treat him the same as the rest of us. The backlash if Trump was banned here would be immense.
Maybe that does happen a lot, but this is a Christian forum, so there is no excuse for making it normal for us to lie about politics. If you make a false statement, it better be based on not knowing the facts.

This might be off topic but I have to say it anyway: Try to avoid being sarcastic in debate threads. People on and off the autism spectrum have been confused about whether somebody was serious or not. This, of course, is one reason posters are thought to be liars and flaming occurs.
Well, not really, but it is helpful.I think the rules actually do say that sarcasm is supposed to be labelled as such by the poster to avoid such confusion.
