Has anyone watched Angel, the WB series? If so, how long?

Personally, I have never missed an episode. The series has had an impact on my life. I believe in the "When nothing we do matters, all that matters is what we do," line from way back in season 2.

So, any die-hard Angel fans here? Speak up and be heard!

(If you haven't seen the series and are planning to watch the DVDs or something, skip the 2nd paragraph)

I love the series, haven't be able to watch too dilligently this season, partly due to the distaste I got after last season where Whedon seemed to lose his touch for writing. I absolutely love the heroic qualities that he shows and how he always is trying to redeem himself.

I love the older episodes though, to tell the truth, back when Doyle was around and Cordelia was still with the show (that was a sad ending eh?). I must say though that Spike is one of the funniest, most paradoxical and lovable characters I've seen in a long time. I love his attitude ('specially dealing with Illyria)

Too bad the series is over now, just when Whedon seemed to have been finding his touch again too... bah!

I think what turned a lot of people off last season (season 4) was Connor. They took the teen angst to an absurd level. Still, it provided for one great, emotional season finale.

This season has been great, and I'll be sad to see it end.

Here's a site for all you people who know that the show is more than just action and comedy and drama. This is for all those who sit forward and think about the philosophical meanings, moral ambiguities, and other fine things that have made Angel one of the best hours of TV each week for 5 years.

If you have access, Spike, go watch the last few episodes of Buffy, season 3. Just so you can see just how far Wes has come in his metamorphasis. It's really something, actually. I think his turning point was really kidnapping Connor as ababy, and then getting his throat slit in season 3 of Angel. But that's just my take.

Angel's great. After Buffy ended, I kinda got more into it. I don't think this season has been that great though. Spike was a wise addition to the cast, because of the way he and Angel get on. Loved the crazy slayer episode with Andrew as well. Spike and Andrew should so have their own show

I was a little annoyed about the whole Illyria thing when I first read about it, but it turned out well in the episodes. Amy Acker did a great job in her final scene as Fred with Wes.

Now that there's only one episode left, all the good TV is finishing :-(

Yeah . . Angel and Frasier are gone, as well as Friends, after this season. Good TV is gone as a result (well, I do fine "Everybody Loves Raymond" to be funny).

As for this season being great or not, I've enjoyed the overall theme of trying to change the system from within . . . only to find out the system is trying to change you back.

From what I hear, there were some, shall we say, bitter feelings about cancellation that manifested into the final episode. Joss himself said if they were coming back, it wouldn't have been this brutal. Can't wait to see exactly how brutal he's talking (I know at least one of the inner circle of Angel dies though, that was given away in the promos for the finale).

And if rumors are true, there's something along the lines of "OK, you take the 30 thousand on the left, I'll take the 30 thousand on the right" towards the end. Sounds like a lot of baddies . . . Is Joss trying to tell us that the Senior Partners have a larger army than the First did in the end of Buffy?

Well, it's been a week since the series finale aired. Anyone want to share their thoughts about it?

Personally, I liked the open-endedness of it. It was a good final statement, but not so final that there can't be anything done to revive the show 1 or 2 or 3 years down the road (hey, if all their careers tank . . . especially DB's . . . you know they'll try to come back, even if on HBO or Showtime).

Wes dying was not a surprise. Fred was gone, so he was finally able to go. The scene with Illyria changing to Fred to mourn over Wes sure was touching, though.

Angel signing away the Shanshu was a big surprise. Especially how easy he did it. I guess he stopped needing a reason to fight after all.

Of course, his human name was Liam, so maybe he never signed it over at all. Interesting thought, anyway.
