I am a mother of four young ones. I would love to be totally QF. There are two things stopping me.

First, we are massively in debt. This is in part to poor decisions years ago, and part to some sinful behavior, which has been addressed, but we're still paying the consequences.

So, regarding the debt - should we wait to "trust God" until we have our feet back under us? It seems absurd that to continue incurring debt or fail to pay down debt would be God's plan for our family.

I'll talk about the second issue later .

Please answer with Scripture and not just stories.

One thing I know for sure is that "trust God" should not be in quotations like it's a joke or something. ???

I don't think she meant it as a joke. I took it as just a shorthand way of saying "should we use contraception in the short term and resort to trusting God with our fertility in the future".

Anyway chocolatekisses, I hope some of the more experienced QF ladies can help you out. I don't really have an answer for you from the scriptures.

Dont WAIT to trust in God, Trust in him now and always! As far as your debt, make a budget and a plan and start paying off the debt and stick to the plan without wavering. Even if you must give up some luxuries such as cable tv, cell phones, a 2nd car to do it...pay off the debt so your in better financial condition.

Sometimes I get so focused on my self that I forget how BIG and really wonderful our Lord is....I was telling myself that last night, but without the verses.

I know you asked that no one give stories, but I have to.

We have always trusted G-d in the area of fertility and He has always been the One to decide when we have another baby or not~ In Spite Of our finances. DH & I have made major stupid financial decisions over the years and racked up a LOT of debt. It finally got to the point that the L-rd led us to declare bankruptcy in 2002 (the year youngest child was born). It was the smartest thing we could have ever done~ and it lifted a HUGE weight off of us.

The only other thing I wanted to add is that Somehow, with each child that was added to our family, the L-rd has increased our income, or stretched supernaturally what we had. We are honestly doing better Now, financially, then we did back when we only had 2 kids~ and DH really doesn't make That much more now than he did then...

Prov. 3:5 is one of my favorites: Trust in the L-rd with all your heart and do Not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will set your paths straight.

I believe that if God brings another blessing you any family that we should trust God to provide.

Have you read Be Fruitful and Multiply by Nancy Campbell or A Full Quiver by Rick and Jan Hess?? You should check them out they are full of scripture and quidance. What does your DH say about this?

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. The last time I spoke to my hubby about it was when we decided to stop bc ...pregnant within 2 wks!

Then, during that pregnancy we moved in the seventh month. By the time baby came, dh wanted bc again.

Okay, on to the second hurdle.

My hubby has great anger issues. He has never hit any of us, but at times his tongue is very sharp. He finds the children irritating and overwhelming. He is working on this, and of course, I'm praying for him.

I think anger is a "fruit," not a root. I'm not sure what the root is.

Today I read a devotional that was talking about God bringing down more and more pressure on us until we become totally dependant on him - and that all of us should ALLOW this in the lives of our loved ones - we shouldn't rescue them, or prop them up - but allow God's work.

I think this is the time we are in for dh. He has so many pressures at work, church, and home, and I think he's reaching the breaking point.

But, back to the issue, part of me feels I shouldn't bring more noise, more chaos, more stress if he is going to take it out on the kids, or end up just not coming home very often (to escape).

I'm trying to be very transparent, but I want all of you to also know he is a very loving and thoughtful man. He loves to give gifts, and makes special arrangements to take me out, he considers all of our children a blessing, and has always been the most excited when I find out we are expecting. It is just this issue of anger and conflict in our home, that makes me want to be content with the number I have (which is alot in most people's eyes) and not even bring the issue up.

let's say I do decide that I need to use no more bc.....

is this something I should quietly mention once, or never mention, but simply pray that God would lay it on his heart, or ....what?

I think this isn't really something you decide to do on your own but you and your DH decide it together. Maybe show him the scriptures or pick up the books I mentioned and read them together and pray about this with your DH. What does he think or feel about this?

Pray to God that you and hubby will be in sync with this. Pray God's will in your lives. Pray for hubbys anger issues and other problems as well as praying for him to hear God on this issue. After much prayer, then gently approach hubby on the issue, after God has had time to speak to his heart.

Thank you for your responses. I did discuss my qf desires with him yesterday, and he listened very patiently. He loves "logic," so I think he'll begin studying to see what the Bible says. In the meantime, I am feeling at peace to leave it in his hands, and not bug him, and also a patience, that God has us right where we are for a reason, and He will move us in His time, especially if I am praying for it.
