There was a guy who stole $5000.00 from a bank deposit bag. He was caught a short time laterr and had to stand before the judge. The judge read the charges out loud for the whole court room to hear. The crime this man as committed is the crime of theft. The court later found him guilty and as a result he spent the next ten years behind bars. Twenty years later another man comes before the same judge for stealing $5000.00. The judge reads the charges out loud for all the whole court room to hear. The court later finds that man guilty. The judge then releases the guy based on the fact that the first guy has done ten years for stealing.

Just because Jesus died for the sins of the world does not make null the Ten Commandments. It's still a sin to steal, lie, commit adultery, forget the 7th day Sabbath and so on.

What of the men and woman of the OT who violated the 4th commandment and were put to death? When they stand before God to give an account will they see you, who also violates the Sabbath, be set free? Well people in the OT who where put to death for committing adultery see you, who also commits adultery, be set free? How fair is this?

The Ten Commandments point out sin in our lives weather we're in Christ or not. I agree that we are no longer under the curse of the law if we're abiding in Chirst but the curse is not the law, but rather, what the law brings on us because of sin.

I say all this to bring us to the 4th Commandment. The 4th Commandment says we are to remember the Sabbath to keep it holy, six days you shall work but the seventh is to be holy unto the Lord.

Do you think that this same law that commands people to be put to death in OT is different now? The law is unchangable and eternal. We stand in the same light of the Ten Commandments as those in the OT.

Some people say that the law has been changed or done away with now that Christ has died. But this is false. We will still be judged as an adulter if we continue to commit adultry without or without Christ.

Some people say that nine of the commandments are good but not the 4th commandment. They say the reason for this belief is because we don't see any mention of the Sabbath in the NT. This too is false.

Listen to Jesus and how He was concerned about His people having to flee on the Sabbath.

Matthew 24:17-21 "Let him who is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house. "And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those with nursing babies in those days! "And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.
"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Jesus was prophsying this would take place 40 years into the future, long after His death, burial and resurrection and yet He is still concerned about the Sabbath.

What about Paul, the preacher to the Gentiles? He met every Sabbath at the church of Corinth preaching to Jew and Gentile Christians.

Acts 18:4 And Paul reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.

Every Sabbath Paul taught in the church of Corinth and for how long? Paul met every Sabbath with these Christians at Corinth for a year and a half.

Acts 18:11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

The Corinthian church was a Sabbath keeping church.

What about the people who loved Jesus and heard Him teach for three years. Do you think Jesus would have told them not to worry about the Sabbath after His death? You would think so but what do we find? We find His faithfull followers remembering the Forth Commandment after Jesus' death.

Luke 23:54-56 That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near. And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

Even where there was no church the disciples met for the Sabbath.

Acts 16:13 And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there.

The Ten Commandments are just as binding for us today as they were for the people of the OT. The difference is, God will write them on our hearts. We will odey all Ten Commandments because we love God and not because of fear or guilt.

In Christ we are free from the condemnation that the law bring on the guilty but we are not free to break them.

If I get a speeding ticket and someone pays it for me I still have to obey the law even though my ticket has been paid.
