• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

 This is weird but now i'm having ocd really bad for the past year, but before it was this bad it always seemed that there was a filter to keep the bad thoughts (really bad ones) out,and I don't understand where that filter went and why it's not there. I'm just praying God will reinstall that filter, maybe a better filter. Does this make any sense to anyone? Just wondered,i'm still struggling as u see my my threads I've posted. Paul Bunyan's thoughts finally went away without me reading the Grace abounding book. Why have mine been going on for 20 years?????

To Softee,
Good insight. This is why OCD thoughts are called "intrusive" by professionals. They are unwanted intruders but the OCD mind is like a Venus fly trap. The OCD brain is not working properly, it's anxiety center is overstimulated so when the "fly" the intrusive thought enters into it, it clamps down on it and won't let go because it needs so badly to have something on which to feed. The person who doesn't have the OCD brain can just tell the fly to "Bug OFF!" and get on with life.
We have to learn to let the fly be there and just die a natural death... the more we swat at it the more irritating it becomes.
We need to learn to put the fly swatter down. :)

To Jewell,
I can relate, as I've lived with anxiety disorders for more than 26 years. But just like Paul's thorn, for me God has allowed them to remain, though they wax and wane in their intensity. I still ask for healing but more than that I now ask for His will and that He would continue to glorify Himself in and through me. God deals with each of us as individuals. God may yet completely remove your disorder, but He may also choose to use it to make your life even more fitting for His feet as He has in mine.
I have often thanked Him for allowing my anxiety disorders to remain... but when I'm really going through a flare I still cry out for healing just as you are now.
Praying for you my friend.
