  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An Invitation!!

Okay everyone, the moment that I've been waiting for is finally drawing near! Graduation is right around the corner!!! I am so excited, especially as I think about all of my unconverted relatives and friends that will hopefully be attending. We are going to have a good preacher come and speak (at this point, we don't know who it will be, but we will be asking Mark Chanski from Holland, Michigan...one of my absolute favorites...and/or Rob Ventura from Englewood, NJ...he is an excellent preacher whose family we love dearly). Also, I will be giving a speech (my friends are already groaning as they anticipate the length. . .how do I get these reputations?!?:holy: ) and I am going to try and cram as much of my testimony into it as possible. :D

So, enough of that. I really doubt that anyone will be able to make it, but I wanted to let you all know that you would be absolutely most welcome to come. It will be on June 10. I'm sure that we'd be able to find families for you to stay with. I want you all to know just how much your love and friendship and fellowship have meant to me since I joined CF and became a frequenter of SR, the best part of CF. I have come to love you all and I appreciate all of the encouragement and valuable things that I have learned here. In the past six months, I have been going through some very difficult times and it has been refreshing to fellowship here in SR. If anyone is able to make it, that would be incredible and I'd love to meet any or all of you! :)

Sorry dear, but i won't be able to make it in, although you're not very far from where i'm at.

However, if you decide on either Grove City College, or Geneva College, (both fine schools) drop me a line, as they're very close to me. (assuming of course that you are planning on going to college)

I recommend Grove City - one of two colleges in the country that take no federal dollars (the other being Hillsdale College in Michigan).

My son Garrett just received his acceptance letter from Hillsdale. He is on the wait list at Grove City.

I cannot begin to praise these two schools highly enough. Students receive a classical, core curriculum centered education that is lacking in any of the public schools. Both schools are steeped in a tradition of faith and Christian values.

If you haven't considered them you should.

Edie and Erin,

Geneva College is also a fine institution. It is (or was) affiliated with the Reformed Presbyterian Church in North America, a.k.a. "the Covenantors".

Among it's distinguished alumuni is R.C. Sproul.

Grove City has a beautiful campus, and i often go up there to walk around, and catch a movie at a discount theatre from time to time.

Geneva is in downtown Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Beaver Falls is the home of retired AFL and NFL quarterback Joe Namath.

Either college would be a good experience, and a good education. Both can't produce graduates fast enough. An engineering degree from Grove City is a ticket to success. Unlike somebody from the larger state institutions, a Grove City or Geneva graduate KNOWS their area of study.

Erin, If you tell us the exact time of the graduation we all will synchronize our watches and pray that the service will be a very special and God honoring service and that you will feel calm and cool as you deliver your speech! We will keep you wrapped in prayer! Then later you can tell us all about it! :prayer: :groupray: I know all of us here on SR will have you in our hearts and thoughts at that time as we feel very proud of you and thankful also that you are such a commited believer, anxious only to please our Lord!

Hillsdale was my dream college for my kids - so sad that it wasn't their's. Oh well. Even so, I read Imprimus every single month.

I sent my friend the sites of the three colleges mentioned on this thread! She was so anxious to know about them. She is such a commited believer and home schools her six children! Great info and appreciate it and your opinions about each one! Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. . .I know a lot of the young people from my grandparent's OPC go to Grove City College. As for the other colleges named, I'll have to keep them on my list for the future. For now, I will remain at the community college where I am presently enrolled as a music major. Since I just received a full scholarship here (it was a big answer to prayer!), it makes the most sense for me financially to attend here at the present time since I'd also be able to live at home and continue working. However, the other places look interesting too!

Perhaps there is some way that we can all get together in the future! Imagine. . .a huge gathering of Reformed paedo and credo baptists all gathered together for fellowship. . .
