"As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!" 28When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"
"Yes, Lord," they replied.
29Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"; 30and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, "See that no one knows about this." 31But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.
32While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus. 33And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel."
34But the Pharisees said, "It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons."

So here are the teachers of the law rejecting the obvious savior.

29"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' 31So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!"

Does this mean we will make the same mistake when he comes again. The Holy spirit may guide us, but what of those that live without, is it not predicted in the bible that many will follow false miracle workers?

One day I was sitting at a booktable out in front of the Student Union at SFSU in S.F. I was peddling christian literature with a hoped-for intent to start conversations with folks about faith in Christ. One day two folks came up to the table simutaneously and each in succession asked a question very similar to yours. There was a hair of differnce in the way they couched the terms but I discerned in an instant that one was of the Baha'i faith and the other was a devotee of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

Have you been influenced by either of these idealogies?

You see, when the Bible says Jesus will return "with the clouds", that's not figurative language. When Jesus ascended into heaven he disappeared behind the clouds. Suddenly two angels appeared to the disciples who were left behind and told them Jesus would return in the same way as he left, namely, he will come in the sky. The Bible says when he does "every eye will see him"; I do not beleive that is supposed to be spiritualized to say "every spiritual eye will see him".

In another place the Bible says at least one thing will be very different about the way in which he returns, "This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels."

Jesus' 2nd coming will be very unlike his first coming, no nativity scene. There will be no missing or mistaking it. Are you ready?

Luke 17:22-23
Then He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see [it]. And they will say to you, 'Look here!' or 'Look there!' Do not go after [them] or follow [them].

Yes it does. Think about how many times the Apostles warned the various congregation of false miracle workers:

Romans 16:17-18
Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.

2 Corinthians 11:13
For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.

2 Timothy 2:17
And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.

2 Peter 2:1
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.

1 John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

This is why it is so important for us to be very conscientious concerning the Word of God

I think the same mistake is being made. Many are believing gospels that are not true. They are just believing what they like and think they are serving Christ (2 Tim 4:3). We can examine how God has dealt with people in the past after they stray from His truth. God’s patience with national Israel is described in the Book of Judges. We see God’s continued patience in I and II Samuel and I and II Kings. This is really parallel to God’s patience with the New Testament churches and congregations. From Revelation 2 and 3, we can see that most of these seven churches were already in trouble with God, indicating that even back to the beginning of the New Testament era, there were problems in the churches. However, God persisted with the New Testament churches for over 1900 years, just like He did with Israel. However, there came a time that judgment fell upon Israel for their increasing wickedness. For the ten northern tribes, it came in 709 B.C. and for the two southern tribes, known as Judah, it came in 587 B.C.

In Matthew 24: 21-24 we are warned of a spiritual tribulation that plagues the churches. God is insisting in I Peter 4:17 that His judgment begins in His own house. In Mark 13:14 tells of the abomination of desolation standing where it ought not. In II Peter 2:1-3 He warns of false prophets leading many away. II Thessalonians 2:1-4, says the man of sin (Satan) will take his seat in the temple and come as angel of light (2 Cor 11:13-15). Daniel also speaks of this time (Daniel 7:21 and 25). A time in which Satan will be victorious over the body of believers (Revelation 13:7, Matt 24:15). In Revelation 13:7. Satan is the "little horn" who will make war with the churches and will prevail. The changing of "times and laws" refers to Satan working to change the rules of the Bible.

There is only one truth (Gal 1:9) and all others are false, this is why Christ will be turning so many away who thought they were doing his will (Phil 3:18, Matt 15:8, Matt 7:13,22-23, 25:41, Luke 13:27, I Thess 5:3). Just like those Pharisees, they did not listen to Jesus and kept on doing their own thing.

But thankfully, salvation is still available today and there is a great multitude being saved (Rev 7:9). But we have to study scripture, test all we believe (I Thess 5:17) and pray for wisdom. Don’t just believe what someone is teaching no matter how good and sincere they may seem. Everything must agree with what is in the bible. Also, God works in the hearts of people so if you see supernatural things going on and wondrous feats (Matt 24:24) to convince you, I’d run fast and far from this.

When Christ comes again, His salvation program will be complete. It will be too late. This is why it so important to make sure we know what is true (Matt 24:39, 2 Peter 3:16).
