  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An encouragement for me and for you.

I have been given this encouragement a few months ago and thought that i would share it with the forum so that you may also be encouraged by it.

I have been involved with my youth group for 11 years now at my church. i was a student there for 6 and have been leading there in all different kind of aspects for 5 years. the last 3 years i had been your everyday jack of all trade leaders... mainly taking a role of resource leader which means that i set up, pack down.. do techie stuff... banking ordering... all that kinda stuff... but also leading students when there are no other leaders to lead them, and also teaching students about life, christianity and how to be servants. I have also lead on camps, lead the fringe and less fortunate/abused students.

I love what i do at the youth group... i get a real kick outta serving... even though the place can get majorly messy and that im there 20 hours over two days. I have given alot to the youth group and I love that i have been able to have the opertunity to serve there... even though its really hard work and i have many late nights.

i do not run a bible study group but there had been a bible study group who were one of those groups that we real rat bags most of the time. i mean they were mental year nine boys. they would continually make huge messes during bible study group, they would continually run away from youth group, be noisy during the talk... etc. and so i decided id take the leader of the group aside and ask him to have a word to the boys about what they had been doing. and he did but nothing changed.

a few weeks after i decided id take a few of the boys and start teaching them how to serve in the lolly shop we have. i taught them how to be servants in the lowest of the low jobs. how to serve others with no thanks.

most of the time they were great and i appreciated their help... but theyd tend to get distracted and run off half way through... which was fine cos they also needed to be around their mates too.

and like as much as i loved to be at youth working hard... i was getting to a bit of a point where i was feeling a bit discouraged and in late october 2008 while they were having a bible study session... one of the boys came up to me and told me i had to go into their bible study for a minute. now obviously i had the thought they had broken something so i kept asking this boy what they had done. with only replys of 'just come with me'

when i got to their group... they presented me with a signed South Sydney Rabbitohs jersey (my favourite NRL team). I was soo shocked at their generosity! haha... and since then i have seen a real change in these boys. they are all now serving the youth group in sooo many ways... they all come up to us and thank us resource leaders for all the hard work we do and ask what they can do to help and its sooo kool.

So i wanna encourage you guys with that... it may seem that nobody cares about the ministry you do, about the little things you do to help... and people may not even notice that you have done it. but God notices and He cares! be encouraged that when you go to Him, he will be saying... well done, good and faithfull servant! you have done a good job!

and on a personal note... I want to thank all those that do the little things that get unnoticed. I appreciate the little things you do for the gospel. i thank you for cleaning the toilets.
i thankyou for smiling at strangers
i thankyou for phonecalls
i thankyou for the meals you share
i thankyou for your entire ministry!

YOU ROCK!
