  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An angry question

If, as Arminians claim, free will is a necessary characteristic of something that is able to "truly love," then how do they explain the love of Christ? And if Christ can use His freewill to love the Father without choosing sin, then what's our problem? And of course the answer is that He chooses what is natural for Him to choose, and we choose what is natural for us to choose.
And, to any man who believes that it is a possible scenario for the I AM to choose sin rather than righteousness, I spit on him; first I spit, then I laugh.

Hi Dave. You will have to forgive me. I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to ask . Umm... can you make it a little bit more clear for us to be able to answer, because I would love to do so! :D

To the glory of God,

Randy

seekingpurity,

Arminians explain the presence of sin in the world by saying that sin has to be a possible choice for a being to have love as a possible choice. Christ can't sin, yet He loves. How do they explain why the principal that allows this to be possible could not have also been extended to man?

What happens when God's redeemed reach Heaven? Will they be able to choose sin there? The idea that a "free will" is necessary for love is crazy.

So often Arminians say things like "if we didn't have free will, we would just be like robots and we couldn't truly love God."

That type of sentiment screams of wanting to hold on to the human will. But what does God want from us? Doesn't He want us to let Him work through us? Doesn't He want me to give up my will to Him, so that His words are my words and His love is my love? If that means I'll be a "robot", then I will gladly accept that role.

Are we, as humans, able to love more truly by our own will, than by the Holy Spirit causing us to love? Of course not!

God is my Creator... He is all-powerful, all-good, and He only desires what is best for me. Who am I to say that it would be bad for God to control me? I think it would be awesome to be a "robot" for God's love and light.

...Although I prefer to think of Christians as stained-glass windows for God's light to shine through. :) Each one is unique, but the same light shines through all of them.
