Just wondering if anyone had been a member, or known someone who has. I know Echoes Peak has, but was wondering if anyone else has...Thanks!

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I worked with three girls who were members. They enjoyed it, earned money for college, and learned some job skills and life lessons from it. They worked in the local homeless shelter I volunteer at/interned at. They coordinated a children's program which included education, help with homework, play times, field trips, and all kinds of things! They even had a science fair. I think you would really enjoy it, but make sure it's what God wants.

So I've decided to apply, and we'll see what God does with those applications. I'm applying for the NCCC group, and then City Year Philadelphia and a program that deals with a children's museum in Providence. I would really like to do the City Year thing, and if I don't get in I think I will reapply after school.

Several people I went to college with did service with AmeriCorps before entering college - none reported having a bad experience with it.
