Amazon Echo and the Bible

People may not realize it or not, but the Amazon Echo or Amazon Dot can read the Bible to you at any moment just by asking it. There are actually quite a few Amazon Alexa skills that involve the Bible. I was shocked. Me and my wife like to ask the Echo to read us a specific chapter or two from the New Testament while we are on the couch together. It's really great! I also use Echo to obviously control certain lights in the house along with other devices.
I use Echo alot for timers, back up alarms, and for a digital shopping list on my phone (by asking "Alexa" to add the item). Life is easier with an Echo, but it's best feature in my opinion is the Bible app feature because God's Word comes first for me and my wife.

Anyways, I am praying they will come out with more Bible or Christian apps for Echo or the dot.

In the Alexa Skills section on your Alexa app, there is also the Sermon Audio Radio app and the Bible Glossary app. The Sermon Audio app plays various sermons from a wide variety of preachers. If you do not find the one you like, then turn on the blue tooth option with your phone and hear them on your Echo through YouTube. The Bible Glossary app is nice. I asked it about "angels" and it gave me a nice break down about them in Scripture.

Looking forward to BlueLetterBible app and an OpenBible Cross Reference app for Amazon Echo, but I do not see that happening any time soon. But who knows.

Oh, I also play Christian music from my various stations I created on Pandora for free with my Echo, as well. Very cool.

I could say:
"Alexa, play Lincoln Brewster radio station from Pandora."

And then the music from that group (or a similar artist that sounds the same) will play.

I can also play local Christian radio station from iheart Radio thru the Echo, too.

Also, you can add a verse of the day to your Flash News Briefing in Echo, as well.

The Amazon Dot is really cheap. It is like the Echo but it does not simply have the bigger speaker. Well, I do notice my Echo gets my questions better than the Dot sometimes, but they are both really good. Get a couple of smart light bulbs and you can control the brightness in your own home. I know in the morning, my eyes do not like light that is so bright. So I ask my Echo to change the percentage of the light.

You can even brew coffee by talking to your Echo. You just need the Wifi Mr Coffee Maker is all.

Not at all. I never got involved in the stock market.
Nor am I affiliated with Amazon in any way.
Me and my wife just find it to be a really helpful device around the house.
For example: When it is dark when you arrive at home, instead of fumbling for the light switch:
All you have to say is:, "Alexa, turn on home."; And you are not trying to operate in the dark.
I really think it is an invocative device. You can do a lot with this device just by speaking (if that is your thing). For example: If you are a hunter (like one of my family members is), it can give you the forecast for white tail deer. Granted, I am not a hunter and I have never killed an animal in my life (Nor do I have a desire to), but the point is that there is something for everyone with the Echo. Unless of course you are freaked out by a talking computer like lady in your home. Some people are freaked out by such a thing. If so, then that is cool. It's like the internet. Do you really need it? Not really. We can still stay in touch with people by phone, by the mail system, and morse code. The internet is merely a means of making things a little easier for people. You can pay bills online. Talk to people instantly live! Buy stuff online that you can't find in the store. See people doing things in another part of the world live! You can find just about any book online, as well. So do I have stock in the internet because I find it useful? Surely not. It is merely a helpful tool among many (Just like the Echo).

I am sure my smart phone can do a lot of cool things that are helpful, but it is not as user friendly as the Echo is. I can just speak (into the air without touching anything) and things begin to happen.

Also, I just discovered a new update that is really cool. I can now call my Echo at home. It will ring and give off a green light. So if my wife shuts off her phones to charge them or they were on low volume, I can call my Echo and it will say it is me calling. She can answer by saying, "Alexa, answer call." It will then broadcast my voice into the air.

In fact, anyone with an Echo can be contacted in this way.
Very nice.
