• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm a pretty sensitive person and it can be easy to wonder if we are too sensitive. I think I am just how I am and there are reasons that I am sensitive. The key, I think, is to not take everything personally, because so many times people don't mean something personally. We sensitive types can take things to heart that really should not be in our hearts. So I think we have to just kind of keep tabs on ourselves and bring to the Lord anything that is effecting us negatively and ask Him to reveal to us what we need to know about a given situation and ask Him to heal what ever needs healing.

 Hi there sweet sister Standupforlove. I am also very sensitive as well. Welcome to the "sensitive club" :) I think it can be a gift too. Though there are times that I wished so badly I was like my late dad, who let things roll off of his back like water on a duck. BUT I try to tell myself that God has a reason for making us like that. Anyway, I just saw this post and I don't know what you wrote but please know that there are people here to will support you sweet sis. (((((((((((((MANY BIG HUGS))))))))))))))))) and I am praying for you :)

I think being sensitive can be either a good or bad thing depending on how we use it, just like with most aspects of human nature are. most things in us have been used for both good and evil deeds, the trick is to not bow the knee when evil rears its ugly head in whatever form it takes. we must not judge as evil what others do and say because all that does is allow evil perspectives to grow inside of our own heart. thus by allowing some form of evil to grow inside of us when we could prevent it, would be no good for us. there are more intense forms of evil that harm us and those are harder to stop building up evil inside of us with since evil has done something to us in a more intense way than having some kind of evil suggestion or perspective alone can do.... because the evil thinking lead to the result of eventually physically harming someone or whatever other kind of more grown up sin (which is called death in a spiritual meaning ) had became thanks to the constant attachment to the evil seed. but Christ is the tree of life and thus he is the seed of life too! in attaching ourselves to him what will become of the harmful sin in us will be done away with, we shall not eat the poisonous tares but they will be burnt up and we shall not lose any of the good wheat either!

and so we must not let this sensitive aspect of ourselves have evil planting to grow inside of it, but must try with what we can to culture only good in this ground of the sensitive aspect of ourselves. we should be as a little innocent child working along side her fully grow up Father, the chief work of this child is not intense labor but the peace children have when they are with their loved ones. the very work of this innocent child is to be her true self and she is her Fathers precious child! we must not let our sensitive selves be quickly tormented ( fear brings torment ) but to instead cling to Faith Hope and Love which will always result in the sensitive part of us being very good. hold strongly to every fruit of good!

it is true that we will often have tares growing up along side the wheat as Jesus speaks to us:

Matthew 13:24-30
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares

24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

and so we must try to always be spiritually awake and watch as Jesus told his disciples to do for when we go to sleep to the kingdom of heaven we give place to our enemy to sow the evil kingdom in us but the tares can sometimes look just like wheat and yet the tares are poison and harmful to humans and so we have to wait with the Lord, having faith hope and love in him and with him and then any form of evil will burn up while at the same time the wheat is gathered. that which can not endure forever shall perish but we have to be dwelling in the everlasting life of God and his kingdom for this process to be complete or we will be sleeping and not knowing what we are doing or going through. in the end, because of the grace of God, our entire personality shall be found and restored to the image God created us in.

since we have this hope let nothing trouble or tear you away from the goodness of God. reject that which is evil and cling to that which is good. God will guide you if and when being sensitive is good or bad for you. God grows us up and teaches us what is to be rejected and what is to be loved. we are all learning by experiences and interactions one with another and God is always by our side to help us. we may find that what we thought was a tare is transmuted by the grace of God into wheat.

I too am very sensitive and sometimes I wish I wasn't as I take things far too personally at times. Still, as other posters have said, it can have its advantages in that we can understand other people's feelings better (or at least I can). For instance I know what it's like to be hurt so I try not to hurt others, and when I do, I always apologise and try to put things right. I too often wish I had a tougher skin especially when it comes to the internet where there are many really nasty people, even on this and other Christian boards (not in this section though which I why I tend to post her pretty frequently) and I know if I get a harsh response I will take it to heart instead of just putting it down to that person's rudeness and/or ignorance. Having said that I would rather be the way I am than be an insensitive clod who doesn't care about other peoples' feelings.:amen:
