  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

All-time greatest/most talented.

Here is my pick for the greatest rock/pop performer of the last 50 plus years. I also think he is one of the best musical performers in recent history. He's a true performer in every sense of the word. Better than the Beatles, Elvis, or any other of the rock and roll greats.

I'm not alone in this opinion. Sam Phillips of Sun Records considered him the most talented musician he ever recorded with.

Sam Phillips also said that Elvis Presley was the greatest Rock/Pop SINGER ever. He was never that impressed with Jerry Lee's voice.

Elvis was a great singer who could play a little piano and guitar. While Jerry Lee was a great Rock piano player who could do a little singing.

Comparing Elvis and Jerry Lee is pretty much apples and oranges, since one was primarily a singer and the other was mostly an instrumentalist.

And Sir Elton Hercules John can be considered as both an instrumentalist and a singer. That's why I consider him to be the greatest musician since Mozart and England's greatest national treasure. We are fortunate to live in the same time period as he.

I think that Jimmy page is one of the most talented musicians of all time.

But then again, every member of Ledd Zeppelin were exceptional...

I like Led Zeppelin. But I think the bandmembers owed their careers to Jimmy Page.

I wouldn't call Jerry Lee Lewis an instrumentalist. He was really considered a singer by the general public.

Jerry Lee Lewis became famous because of his PIANO PLAYING. Sam Phillips clearly stated long ago that his voice was NOT that good.

If Jerry Lee had never learned to play the piano, he would've been a NOBODY as a pure singer.

My choice for most talented would go to Tupac, Nas, or Eminem...they have all made some pretty awesome songs with deep meaning and lyrical ability.
I agree.
Changes (based on a favorite Bruce Hornsby joint)
Stan (sampled from a Dido joint)
I Can (based on Fur Elise)
Good joints
and the last one in this list is great for kids.
Uplifting. lol
