  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Let’s relate our experiences. Has anything ever happened to you. and you thought it should not have happened? And later you realised that God used what seemed to be a negative that time to advance your life?

Can I tell you a story that my mom used to relate to people? Although I was still very young, I would listen. I think I still have all the story.

There was once a young man who worked at a mine his name was John. He liked to quote Rom 8:28, everything that would happen to him he would just quote this verse, Rm 8:28, ‘everything works together for good’. This ultimately became his name. Every body at work called him with the name ‘everything works together for good’. One day during lunchtime, all the workers come out from underground for lunch. As they were about to sit down to eat, a dog snatched John’s plastic bag that had his lunch box, John ran after the dog, to take back his lunch box but in vain! He kept on chasing the dog. At the back…his friends were laughing at him, saying hmmm…. ‘Everything works together for good’, John kept on chasing the dog until he was very far, the dog was tired and he was exhausted too. Finally he caught the dog and took back his lunch box. But he was only left with five minutes to go back to lunch. And that time he is very far from his place of work. Obviously he will be very late at work. Even his friends by this time were going back to work…

On his way back, from pursuing the dog, John heard a noise, big noise, dynamite like blast. And another one. He kept on walking back. When he reached his workplace, he found that the mine had covered everyone who was underground. And for him a dog that snatched his lunch box had saved him. So Rom 8:28 applied to John. Beyond any doubt, All things had worked together for good!

This might be an amusing story. But I really do believe that all things do work together for good to those who love Him and those called according to His purpose!

God bless!
